December 13, 2019
Tamanend's Winter Dance is Friday, December 13 from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM
Tamanend’s annual winter holiday dance will be held Friday December 13th from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in our Tamanend Gymnasium. Complimentary snacks and drinks will be provided in the Cafeteria for all students to enjoy. Dance tickets will be on sale Thursday and Friday, December 12th and 13th during all lunches for just $8. Tickets can also be purchased at the door when you enter the dance Friday evening for the same price. Our holiday dance theme is “Frozen in Time.” Typically, students like to dress elegantly (dresses, shirts/ties, dress pants) for this special night, but that is not mandatory. We hope to see all of you Friday as we celebrate the upcoming holiday season at our winter dance.

If you are coming to Tamanend from the Bristol Road side, please drop off/pick up your child by entering the main parking lot.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)
Reminder--Help is Down the Hall
The Tamanend Student Assistance Program (SAP) Team is a group of trained faculty members who can connect students with appropriate help and resources if they show signs of struggling with mental health concerns or alcohol/substance use. If you notice concerns such as major changes in behavior or mood, drop in achievement, or use of drugs or alcohol, then you may consider a SAP referral. When the team receives a referral, we gather more information to determine if there is a need for intervention and further assessment. The information is confidential, and the process is for the purpose of offering help. Anyone can refer a student about whom they are concerned. Referrals can be made at this referral link or by contacting a SAP team member:
Mrs. Barlow, Mrs. Cammann, Sra. Corsino, Mr. Dudley, Mr. Heisey,
Mr. Klein, Mrs. Myrtetus, Ms. Scheffey, & Mrs. Szagola
TEEN TALK
What is Teen Talk? Each week, we will include a resource in our newsletter designed to promote conversations between parents and children regarding important issues related to teenagers. We hope that these resources serve to help parents and students navigate the excitement and challenges associated with the teenage years. In addition, we will highlight topics that we are discussing in Advisory and in presentations so that you may continue the conversation at home with your teen.
This Week's Teen Talk Topic: Bullying and Thinking about Others
Next week, Tamanend will welcome Dr. Mykee Fowlin who will present an assembly entitled "You Don't Know me Until You Know Me". This assembly pushes students to think about others before judging or engaging in bullying behaviors. Click here to read more about Dr. Fowlin and this presentation.
What We're Talking About at Tamanend:
Bullying and Thinking about Others' Experiences:
All students will attend the Mykee Fowlin assembly related to bullying and being kind to others on Tuesday, December 17.
Advisory Lessons for next week include:
All Grades--The Advisory groups for all grades are using their lesson time to research and discuss various holiday traditions in different cultures. They are using Academic Advisory time to catch up on work before the winter break.

We are planning a variety of activities throughout the 19-20 school year to engage all members of the Tamanend community in discussions related to this book.
