Colonial Park Weekly News

November 29 - December 3

Principal's Note

Dear Colonial Park Families -

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and a relaxing few days off. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling face on Monday morning, but I did enjoy the time with family.

We are currently brainstorming ways to make our morning arrival safer for our students. In the meantime, I'd like to send a few reminders:

  1. Please do not stop in front of Door 8 when dropping off a first grade student. It is not safe for vehicles entering the parking lot.
  2. If you are dropping off a kindergarten student or a preschool student in front of Door 10, please do not exit your vehicle. If you would like to leave your vehicle, please park in the parking lot or in the surrounding neighborhood.
  3. During inclement weather, all students may be dropped off at the main entrance. Please pull your vehicle up to the curb, and have your child exit out the right door onto the sidewalk. If you would like to exit your vehicle, please park in the parking lot.
  4. Do not pass cars that are waiting for students exiting a bus. Drivers are required by Massachusetts law to come to a complete stop while students enter and exit the bus.

Please remember these guidelines are to keep our students safe, which is the main priority of us all.

Tomorrow families will receive a link to sign up for a virtual or in-person conference. Conferences will be held on Wednesday, December 8, from 4:00 to 7:00, and on Thursday, December 9, from 1:00 to 4:00. We hope that by providing the choice of meeting in person or meeting virtually, all our families will be able to safely access a conference. Report Cards and Progress Reports will be sent home with your child on Monday, December 6.

I hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the weekend, and I look forward to seeing your child tomorrow!

PTO News!

Liberty Bell Fundraiser, Monday, November 29 - Enjoy a night off from cooking, and order from Liberty Bell tomorrow from 4-8! Just show the flyer that was sent home last week, or simply mention "Colonial Park Fundraiser" at pickup. A generous percentage will come directly back to the PTO.

Coats for Kids and Families Drive -- Beginning Monday, November 15! Colonial Park is excited to be part of Coats for Kids again this year! If you have coats (in good condition) that your family has outgrown, please consider dropping them off in the bin in the school lobby. Coats will be professionally cleaned by Anton’s Dry Cleaners and distributed to kids and families in need. All sizes are welcome (infant through adults). This drive will end on December 22.

Art Room Volunteers -- Mrs. P, our wonderful art teacher, is looking for volunteers to help prepare, mount, and display student artwork on Thursday and Friday mornings. If you’d like to learn more or sign up to help, please use this link:

Conference Babysitters -- In the past the PTO has hired a few babysitters to watch students during their Parent Teacher Conference. This year the conferences will have a virtual option. We are therefore reaching out to survey parents to see how much interest there is in having babysitters this year. You can take the survey here:

A Note from Nurse Lapery

Dear Parents/Guardians,

When your child has the Covid-19 vaccine, please send me the documentation of the first dose and then follow it up with documentation of the second dose when it is complete. You can send it as a hard copy or you can email it to me at

Thank you,

Katie Lapery

Reminder - No Dogs Allowed

Please remember that no dogs are allowed on school property during arrival and dismissal. There have been several complaints regarding dogs on school grounds, and the effect this has had on some children. Please be respectful of this district wide rule for the emotional well being of our students.

Colonial Park Postcard Project

Be on the lookout for a postcard from a Colonial Park School staff member for your child! Our Postcard Project is underway, and by the end of May, every student will receive a personal message in the mail from someone in our CP community. We love our students and want them to know that we are all one family looking out for each other!
