Professional Development Opportunity
TEA Grant Funded
Sheldon ISD has been awarded a TEA Grant funded opportunity to support the acquisition of content knowledge and expertise to prepare teachers to educate and impact learning of at-risk students as it relates to environmental systems. KHS will add Environmental Systems as an advanced science course for the 2016-2017 school year. The ultimate goal is to expand student opportunities so they can pursue a STEM degree or career.
University of Houston Downtown Partnership
UHD will partner with Sheldon ISD to provide professional development opportunities as well as coaching/mentoring scientifically based research strategies.
Teacher Commitment
Oct. 2015 - Oct. 2016- Professional Development requirements.
- Tier 1 "High School Only" Teachers: 72 Hours of PD
- Tier 2 Teachers: 36 Hours of PD
- Participate in a Service Learning project with students
Stipends will be awarded in Aug. 2016.
Teachers selected must commit to teaching in Sheldon ISD for 2 additional years.
