Eminem (Marshall Mathers III)
He overcame poverty and bullying to become a Grammy winner
Eminem's Childhood and Background
8 Mile was a movie about Eminem's life and what he used to do before he had a large Hip-Hop career. 8 Mile also won an Academy Award in 2003 for best original song for "Lose Yourself".
In 2000, Eminem preformed "Real Slim Shady" and "Way I Am" with thousands of similar looking and dressed looking men behind him as he walked into the building for the opening of the performance.
In 2011, Eminem won his twelfth Grammy for best rap album with "Recovery" and there would be three more to come in his career to this day.
Character vs. Character~
One of his conflict situations was character vs. character because growing up, he didn't have a father figure and his mom was a drug addict. Also the kids at school bullied him.
Character vs. Self~
His other conflict situation was Character vs. Self because with the kids bullying him and no one to tell, he kept a lot of his anger inside, just building up.
His resolutions for the conflicts was, using his love for English and built up anger to start a Hip-Hop career that would make him a 'Rap God' and an artist that will be remembered for many years to come.
- By June of 2014, Eminem had been up for 505 awards and won 340 of them in an almost 20-year career
- Eminem has won 15 GRAMMYs and one Academy Award
- He has sold 42 million digital singles in the United States alone and sold 172 million albums worldwide
Memorable Quote and Life Theme
I think this quote goes with Eminem's life theme because he could have given into the life his mother had and went down a horrible path, but instead he made something out of his life and showed anyone that they can do anything.
Life Theme- don't give up, keep going until you get to where you want to be
