February 2023
February is American Heart Month!
Review these signs for heart disease risk:
- High blood pressure. Millions of people in the United States have high blood pressure, and millions of them are as young as 40 or 50. If you are one of them, talk to your doctor about ways to control it.
- High cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity are all conditions that can increase your risk for heart disease. If you fall into this category, work on eating healthy and getting some physical activity a few times a week.
- Smoking cigarettes. Over 35 million adults in America are smokers, and thousands of young people pick up the habit daily. If you’re a smoker, do your best to quit or cut down. It’s what’s best for your health.

Camp Gladiator - Irving ISD Employee Spotlight!
ANGELICA MONTES
3rd Grade Teacher at Townley Elementary School
Has attended 25 classes in the month of January!
CG: What is one health and fitness goal you have for 2023?
Montes: "I want to make sure I put myself first more often this year. My mental health is very important to me and I know that if I am good, then I can be good for my students and my peers."
CG: How has CampGladiator helped you with this goal?
Montes: "It gives me a break from the hustles of the teaching world. I pour so much into my students and my career that sometimes I just need to shut my mind off even for 30min. and let someone else pour into me."
CG: How have you been so consistent?
Montes: "I take advantage of CG's Online 30min Quick Hitters when I can't make it to an outdoor class. I do have my fellow teacher friends that also help me stay accountable and I do the same for them."
