Thanksgiving Week Schedule Change

The Preschool Program appreciates the opportunity to serve you and your family. The first 9 weeks of this school year have been successful thanks to our staff and the support from families. Children have been gaining new skills and knowledge daily and show their excitement with us all.

For the week of November 23, Asheville City Schools has decided to close all physical locations (i.e. K-12 schools, ACS Preschool Program, ACS Learning PODS, and central services). Staff are being asked to work remotely on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24. Virtual instruction and activities will be provided for families. Your child's teacher will give you details regarding virtual instruction soon.

We want to communicate this closure to you now to give you time to seek alternative child care if needed. Your billing account will be credited for these two unplanned days per district guidance.

Asheville City Schools will resume our regular virtual schedule on Monday, November 30.

Dressing in Layers

Licensing requirements in our preschool rooms requires that we keep the windows open for fresh air. Please feel free to dress your child in layers as the temperature drops.

Ready Rosie

You should have received an invite to Ready Rosie. Ready Rosie is a tool that can help families create meaningful home-learning environments. Ready Rosie sends out short videos to give families activities that can be done at home or in your community.

Reminder for K-2

There may be some changes made to your child's schedule or who they work with in the coming months. We are trying to bring back a small group of students for in person learning. We will make every effort to keep your child connected to the group of students in his/her classroom, as well as the teachers. Our plans are that every child and teacher will meet with his/her class for Morning Meeting each day. We are hopeful that this will keep you connected during the 3 week small group meetings. In January, we hope to invite all students to return on an alternating schedule and student will hopefully be able to be in person with his/her classroom and teacher. We will continue to communicate any changes for your child. We will keep siblings on the same schedule as we return in January. Please send questions or concerns to your child's teacher or to Tima Williams at

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we strive to keep staff and families safe throughout this pandemic.
