What is Brachiosaurus?

The Brachiosaurus is kind of dinosaur that is massive, plant-eating, and has long neck. It is kind of Sauropod that is type of dinosaur, and it is classified as a member of the family Brachiosauridae. Brachiosaurus's closest relatives are Diplodocus and Apatosaurus. All Brachiosaurus, Diplodocus, and Apatosaurus are Sauropod. Length was 25meters(82feet), height was 12meters(39feet), and its neck measured about 8.5meters(28feet).

Where, When it Lived?

The Brachiosaurus lived about 144million to 163million years ago during the late Jurassic period. Dinosaur lived on earth for very long time, but are they living up to now? No, they became extinct. There are many hypotheses about cause of extinction of dinosaur. Two strongest hypotheses of them are saying that food problem made extinction of the dinosaur, and ice age made extinction of the dinosaur.

*The first fossils of Brachiosaurus were found in Colorado river of the U.S. in 1900. Elmer Riggs first described the giant dinosaur in 1903, calling it "the largest known dinosaur".

*The name Brachiosaurus is came from Greek, that means "arm and lizard".

*It is called as Arm lizard or Arm Reptile because its front legs were longer than its hind legs.
