Dates to Remember
On November 9, 4-day per week instruction begins. All hybrid students will attend face-to-face instruction Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesdays will remain virtual.
End of the 1st Nine Weeks is Wednesday, November 11; Report Cards will be issued on Friday, November 20.
Reminder: Important Upcoming Dates
Schools and offices will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.
*Note: Some schools may be utilized as voting/polling places. Visit www.scvotes.gov for more information on voting in South Carolina.
PHASE IV of reentry is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 9.
Beginning November 9, in-person students in grades 4K through 12 will attend school 4 days per week. The district's Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE) virtual program will continue for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Visit www.lexrich5.org/20-21reentry for more details.

REMINDER: Instructional Model Change Requests
School District Five has asked that families of elementary school students commit to at least a quarter and that families of secondary students commit to at least a semester before requesting a change in their instructional option.
- Request Forms:
To request a change from one instructional model to another, parents/guardians will complete online forms, which will be available on school and district websites during the request windows. Requests will be considered based on available space and schedule/class availability.
- Secondary Request Window:
- Secondary (6-12): The form opens Monday, November 9, 2020 and closes Friday, November 20, 2020.
*Please note: The elementary request window is now closed.
- Implementation of Instructional Model Changes (per requests):
- Elementary (K-5): Start of 2nd quarter: Thursday, November 12, 2020.
- Secondary (6-12): Start of 2nd semester: Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
School District Five families requesting admission into FIVE or a change to their in-person schedule after the elementary and/or secondary request windows will be placed on a hardship waiting list.

Battery Operated LED lights for our resident's bedrooms

We do ask for all items to be new to follow our DHEC regulations.
Bins will be available in the commons and around the school for donations until November 15th!

Last year we collected 1200 food items. Our goal this year is 1500!!!
A donation container will be at the main school entrance. Please encourage your neighbors, family & your children to bring in donations. Donations will go to help stock the food bank at Dutch Fork Middle & to other schools in our area where there is need.
The Key Club will be leaving information on the mailboxes in Ascot, Ashford, Belfair, the DF side of Chelsea Park, Concord Place, Dutch Oaks, Palmerston N & S, Ridgecreek & Walnut Grove.

Fri., Dec. 11 – Last day to request official transcripts via Parchment to be sent to colleges prior to the holiday break.
Sylvan will offer FREE, full-length practice SAT or ACT from Noon-3:30 - 11/3/20. Students will receive a detailed score report to help them know how prepared they are and if there are areas they need to strengthen.

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program offers the state’s brightest and best students up to $24,000 over four years to become South Carolina educators.
Here's what you need to know about the Teaching Fellows Program.
Provides fellowships for up to 200 students each year (actual number determined by funding from the General Assembly)
Includes enrichment programs, professional development, and leadership opportunities
Supplies up to a $6,000 fellowship annually for four years (as long as the student is in the process of completing a degree leading to teacher certification and meets the criteria to continue in the program)
Requires participants to agree to teach in a South Carolina public school one year for each year funding is received and sign a Promissory Note along with a surety
