Birdneck Briefing

Upcoming Dates and Events the Week of October 16-20
10/16
This is your Captain Speaking!
Hello Birdneck Family,
We will begin our week with division PLP from 8:30 - 11:30. There will also be a reflection/activity to receive all 4 division PLP hours. Continuing our professional development on Transformational Learning, our focus will be on the Student Disposition which includes student goal setting and engagement. Students find much more success when their learning is self directed. Ownership is one of our four core behaviors that we created as part of our PBIS implementation. Student goal setting exemplifies the meaning of ownership with students taking a part in planning their own learning. Tomorrow we will be discussing how to help students begin to take ownership by creating their own goals and how to assist them in monitoring progress. Another area we'll discuss in our PLP is student engagement and ways we can improve what we do to keep kids focused and on task while learning. I look forward to seeing or teachers tomorrow and wish our teacher assistants, bus drivers, and cafeteria assistants a relaxing day off!
Here's to another AMAZING week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Captain out,

Shout Outs!
Please continue share shout outs with RV so we can post the awesomeness here on our Smore.
I want to thank Mr. Leuthauser for being so wonderful with Is. Elizabeth has told me how included Mr. Leuthauser makes Is. feel and how much Is. loves him and his class. He asked Elizabeth today if it would work out with Is.’s schedule to be included in Lunch Bunch. Thank you Chad so much, we appreciate you and Is. adores you!!
I wanted to give a shout out to Nick (ITS) and Heather—for helping us problem solve, trouble shoot, fix and make suggestions—for the technology needs of our student. They have been so patient and helpful—even coming at a moment’s notice! (That remind app is a great tool!!) I just wanted them to know how much I appreciate their support and willingness to make things easier for ALL of us! You guys are awesome!
I would like to give a shout out to Nick Dzenzel for his devotion in solving our iPad problems. We have been working hard to get things working properly with all the updates and his can do and positive attitude is most appreciated.
I would also like to give a shout out to Joann Couette for commitment to helping 1st grade fine tune number talks and small groups.
