Week of 11/30 & 12/7

A note from Ms. Massara

Math Test

Our unit 7 math test will be on Wednesday. Please let me know if you have any questions. Students will have a review sheet for homework to practice the skills for their test.

Student Led Conferences

Conferences will begin next week. Just a reminder that your child should come with you to conferences this year. They will be telling you about their progress and sharing work samples.

Colder Weather& Indoor Line Up

With the approach of colder weather, it is always very important that children are dressed properly, including winter coats, hats, and gloves. If the wind chill factor is 15 degrees or lower, students will enter the school for morning line up (8:20 a.m.) If there are no staff members outside, students should enter the building to line up. Just a reminder, no students are to report to school before 8:20 a.m. CHANGE: Third Graders will now line up in the Library instead of the APR.

Appreciating Differences Day: December 14

To continue our yearly theme of Respect for ourselves, others, and our school this month’s focus will be Appreciating Differences in December. Hour of Code

We learned how to write code like computer programmers by participating in the Hour of Code. We wrote code for Mine Craft, Frozen, Star Wars, Angry Birds, and much more. I will be giving your child his or her login information to tape to their assignment book if they wanted to try this at home. The kids LOVED it!

Teaching our expert topics to our classmates

We just started our next unit in Writer's Workshop, informational writing. We talked about what it means to be an expert in something. Students decided on a topic that they know a lot of information about and could teach someone. We are now in the planning process for our information books. 3M has some experts in Mine Craft, ballet, horseback riding, fishing, crabbing, swimming, video games, and so much more!
