Principal's message - week 37
Greetings North Plains Families!
What a fun event last night at Jessie Mays Community Center. Teri Lenahan, Mayor of North Plains, hosted the event which honored volunteers from all aspects of the city. Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, the NP Police Department, Friends of the Library as well as the NP Library, City Council, City Planning Commission, and of course our own NP Elementary School were all represented. We are so fortunate to have such caring and committed people in this community, including our own Grandpa Ron who was recognized for his volunteer efforts here at the school. Emily West was also honored for her work at the library as well as at the school. Thank you to Ms. Debolt for bringing her family to the celebration!
Thank you to Mr. Orozco for continuing to work on our lost and found! Currently there are 75 items (see below), and there will be 2 more donations to Goodwill, May 11 and June 15. Be sure to see if you have items you need to take home!
On that note, we are in desperate need of a parent to organize and manage our clothes closet here at school. We have a lot of clothing we really can't use, and need someone to go through it and organize drawers by size, etc. If you are willing to help out, please let me know!
A huge thank you to Ryan Kind and all of the parents who supported our book fair this past week. Students enjoyed the opportunity to purchase books and other reading items and we couldn't do it without your help, so thank you!
We are collecting bottles and cans for the Washington, D.C. trip fundraiser! Bring your returnable items to the blue bins at the front of the school and they will be picked up regularly. Thank you in advance for supporting our students to go on this amazing adventure in June, 2019!
If you are looking for opportunities for summer, check out this link which tells about reading programs over the summer. This would be great for any student, but especially if your child struggles with reading! http://tinyurl.com/SummerReadingPrograms2018
