Panther families,
BIG shoutout to our 6th graders and their families who came to campus over the weekend and added their flair! The rainbow stairs look amazing, the new sign on the fence by the playground is so spirited and just the general appeal of our campus looks fantastic and matches the pride we all hold as Panthers!
I am SO SAD to say that Coach K is down to just days left with Penngrove! If you are interested in joining #TeamPenn and being the PE Specialist, please email me! The position is approximately 20 hours per week, has flexibility of schedule and is just plain fun!
Our next Walk to School Day will be May 24th. There is a link below, and a QR code here, to fill out a survey about our local infrastructure, so please provide tour input! There is also the Penngrove Town Hall to address traffic concerns tomorrow evening as well- please see below for a message from David Rabbit.
26 days of school left! I can't believe it!
Stay awkward, brave and kind!

PennStaff Spotlight!
Question of the week from Principal Harp
We got 8 responses last week!
HELP US GET MORE THAN 10 RESPONSES THIS WEEK!!
Each week, I will be sending out a question with which you will be given the opportunity to engage in a new conversation with your child. We all know how hard it is to draw out responses other than, "nothing" or "fine" when we ask "What did you do today?" or "How was school?" Be sure to use open ended follow-up questions and statements such as "Tell me more about that!" or "What did you think of that?" Please ask your student(s) the question below, share their response with us and make our day! You can submit more than one response! (No need to put names or identifying words.)
PBIS Corner
Parent Education
Who does PBIS work for? EVERYONE! However, there are different tiers of PBIS so that we can tailor our responses to the various needs of our students. Tier 1 supports are implemented classroom and school-wide and supports 80%-90% of students. Approximately 10-15% of students will need an additional layer of support, which can be an additional reminder, check ins throughout the day, prizes and increased communication with adults. 3-5% of students will need tier 3 support in order to be successful in meeting the behavioral expectations. This is even more adult support and intensive strategies.
Be on the lookout for a email from your Room Parent with details about this week of appreciation!
Or reach out to the PTA Vice President Adrien at fopptavp@gmail.com

6th Grade Day of Service
This past weekend, the #PennPanthersClassOf2023 & their families had a day of service on campus. They spent the day sprucing up Penngrove Elementary - collecting trash, gathering and sorting items for the Lost & Found, installing more paw prints & PANTHERS on the fences, planted a fruit tree & cleaned and repainted the rainbow stairs! So much hard work, and it is definitely noticed and appreciated. Thank you so much to our hardworking 6th graders & their families.
Lost & Found
Speaking of the Lost & Found- it is getting crazy Panthers!
Be sure to stop by and take a peek- there is a TON of items that need to be claimed by their owners. Lunch boxes, water bottles, sweatshirts & jackets galore!
🔭 Science Family Fun Night with Kids' Fun Science 🧪
May 17th from 6-7:30 in the multi
Science night includes ten Super Fun hands-on experiments where kids learn by doing.
My Hands-on science encourages the students to DO something – observe, ask questions, touch, smell, experiment. These experiments will allow students to do critical thinking skills that are enhanced during such science activities. Kids can ask the why, how, and what questions. Even better, they can help answer the questions themselves.
A night students will be talking about for a long time.
This is a free event to our community, hosted by the Friends of Penngrove PTA.
Please RSVP per person.

TAKE OUR SAFE STREETS FOR ALL SURVEY! Whether you walk, bike, or drive to school, improving Safe Routes to School makes our streets safer for all road users! This important survey will inform future Safe Routes to School programming and projects (including potential infrastructure improvements such as bike lanes, crosswalks, etc) to facilitate safer transportation. This year, local public works/planning departments in every jurisdiction are working on their Active Transportation Plan updates. An infrastructure project typically needs to be in a Transportation Plan in order for it to be funded. Parent (and school staff) voices are critical for identifying potential projects and priority routes in the vicinity of schools.

Spring Petaluma River Cleanup
Saturday, May 6th, 2023 | 9am
Steamer Landing Park
Help keep the Petaluma River Clean! Join Friends on Saturday, May 6th for our annual Spring Petaluma River Cleanup. We’ll gather at Steamer Landing Park in the morning for supplies, a safety talk, a to receive your site assignment. We’ll have coffee and refreshments in the morning and a BBQ with a raffle and live music in the afternoon.
Be a solution to river pollution and help get trash out of our waterways. We’ll have 15 sites throughout the City that volunteers will be assigned to. Let us know if there is a creek near you that needs a cleanup.
What to Expect: Friends will supply gloves, trash pickers, buckets and trash bags. Please feel free to bring your own gloves if you have them. If you have a location you would like to go to, or a group you would like to be with, you can request that when you register.
Site Captains: Site Captains help lead cleanup efforts at one of our 15 locations. This includes bringing a bag of extra supplies which will be provided to you, contact cleanup staff if your site needs more supplies or a trash pick-up, and ensuring all supplies make it back to Steamer Landing. You can sign up to be a site captain when you register.
