Working Together #oneschool
Mountain View is a special place to learn and work! Over the past year, we have been talking as a school about our vision and mission. We found that Mountain View’s Vision and Mission align beautifully with ACPS’ new “Learning for All” Strategic Plan.
ACPS’ Vision
Our learners are engaged in authentic, challenging, and relevant learning experiences, becoming lifelong contributors and leaders in our dynamic and diverse society.
Mountain View’s Vision
Where EVERY LEARNER is empowered to actively and confidently thrive every day.
Donde TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES tienen la capacidad de prosperar de forma activa y segura todos los días.
ACPS’ Mission
Working together as a team, we will end the predictive value of race, class, gender, and special capacities for our children’s success through high quality teaching and learning for all. We seek to build relationships with families and communities to ensure that every student succeeds.
We will know every student.
Mountain View’s Mission
Our mission is for all students to achieve academic success to their best ability. Therefore we embrace our diverse students and families. Together we value on antiracism, bilingualism, and multiculturalism.
We hope that you see everything we do at Mountain View connected to our school and division vision and mission. If you are interested in informal daily updates, you are invited to follow Principal Cyndi Wells on Facebook or Twitter (@cyndihwells)
It’s Hispanic Heritage Month -- Save the Dates!
Registration Verification - Please check for accuracy
At the beginning of each school year, Albemarle County Public Schools wants parents and guardians to update their child’s registration information. ACPS made this information easy for you -- using a pre-filled information for you to check. In addition, this process allows you to update any required annual agreements and permissions.
Click on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in the email sent to you earlier week. If you need help logging into Parent Portal, contact Pam or Lizmer in the front office at 434-293-7455.
A Note from an Essentials Team:
Recently in P.E. we have been having a blast learning how to cooperate, work as a team, and follow directions. There has been lots of movement and fun taking place. We have also enjoyed supporting kindergarten's color week.
An Update from Ms. Heather in the cafeteria
We are working hard, but need to modify the published menu based on what is available from the vendor. This week we aren’t able to get PB&J sandwiches. Thank you for your understanding that we are doing our best.
Reminder: Arrival/Dismissal Notes
Please if you need to make changes to your child’s dismissal plan for the day make sure you call or email the office before 1:00 p.m.
We also thank our car drivers for your continued support and patience. Everyone is getting better at drop off/ pick up and staying safe.
Reminder: School Year Safety/Mitigation Strategies
We receive positive feedback on our COVID-19 Mitigation Inspections thanks to our teamwork! Please help us keep our school community healthy by:
Screening at-home before school and keeping your child home if he/she is sick
Talking at home about why we wear masks inside the school or buses
We will maximize physical distancing to the extent possible
We will all wash/sanitize hands throughout the day
Students will all eat in their classrooms or outside - eating as far apart as space will allow
We will take students outside as often as possible
Last year our school received excellent reports on our mitigation measures, and we will continue to do all we can to keep us healthy this year.
You will find more details on page 13-14 of our Family/Student Handbook
Reminder: Snack Donations Accepted
We will happily accept pre-packaged snack donations for children who are unable to provide their own. You can either donate them to your child’s teacher or leave them in the front office for us to distribute upon request. Thank you!
