PENNIES FOR PATIENTS
We are up to $185 in donations online. Have you chosen to keep track of the amount received in your classroom? If so send Shahenda the recent amount so she can fill in the thermometer on the Student Council bulletin board.
Online web pages have been created for each teacher. Please feel free to share in your email, newsletters, and social media. As monies are received from students please send to the office as often as needed to make you feel comfortable with the amount of money in your classroom. Ziplock bags with your name will be in your mailbox and returned to you once they are emptied. Encourage students to create their online accounts. Most prizes can only be earned with funds raised online.
When you have a student that has raised $50 send them to me to receive some prizes to help keep the momentum going in your class. I only have enough for one from each class.
Important Dates:
1/6/20 School-wide Pennies for Patients Kick-off during each lunch period.
Campaign Dates 1/6/20 - 1/24/20
Remember, you only have to count the money for your class if you choose. All monies collected go to Huntington Bank at the end of the campaign to be counted by classroom.
If you have any questions please ask. I'm sure I've forgotten something.
Have a great day,
Shahenda
Winter F&P Testing:
During the month of January PLEASE continue your effective whole group, small group, and one on one instruction. If needed, please refer to the Literacy Continuum book that is in your F&P kit to determine what behavior(s) your student needs to work on to be able to move up to a higher level. Focus on these behaviors this month! It is very tempting to jump into F&P testing but we are asking you to WAIT until February.
Here are the testing dates (per Deanna's email dated 12/3/19) that have been reserved for our school for the Winter 2020 administration; Friday, February 21st -Belcourt, Farrington, Thomas-Pearsall, VonNostrand, Wilson, Emert, Maurer, Snead, Winer, & Cowell. Wednesday, February 26th- Moss & Strutton. Tuesday, March 3rd- Dershem. If you are a third grade teacher you are testing your instructional M and lower students, 4th grade will test their instructional P or lower students, and 5th grade will assess their instructional S or lower students based on your November (Fall) scores. Third-fifth grade scores must be entered by Friday, March 2nd.
Teachers, please be reminded of the following changes regarding the Winter 2020 administration for our students:
Students who were AT OR ABOVE grade level in grades 3-5 during the fall administration DO NOT need to be assessed in Winter 2020 (Instructional N or higher for 3rd, instructional Q or higher for 4th, and instructional T or higher for 5th based on Nov/fall scores) They WILL need to be assessed in Spring 2020. You can choose to assess these students during Winter 2020 if you would like but it is not required.
If you refer to the Sheiko Reading Data wall, you will be assessing your students that are Tier 2 or 3 (refer to the November tab) during the winter testing period. Once you have completed your testing it would be GREATLY appreciated if you update the students level on the February tab.
**If your student is receiving pull-out reading intervention, Margaret and Susie will be doing formal progress monitoring this month. We will share these results with you. You can use this information along with your data from working with the student to determine where you plan to begin your F&P assessment.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Margaret or Susie.
New Students-
If you have received a new student (or more than one) recently, please let Susie know what instructional and hard level the student is at by Friday, January 17th. If you have the information sooner please share it with Susie.
MTSS & Student Concerns-
If you are concerned about a Tier 2 student in the area of reading please highlight that student on the November tab of your grade level on the reading data wall. Please let your MTSS grade level team member know the student's name and your concerns. The team member will share your concerns with the MTSS Team at our next meeting.
PTO INFORMATION
A new Box Top Competition starts January 6th through the 17th.
If you have box tops at home, please send them to school with your child. The class that collects the most box tops will receive a pizza party!
The new Box Tops app is available! As you may have heard, Box Tops is going digital! Through this app you can scan your receipts and earn Box Tops cash for Sheiko. You can still clip and send in Box Tops until they are phased out in approximately 2022. However, new products going forward will be digitally redeemed.

CKH-Developing Goals
2. Teacher Goals. Revisit your personal goals for the school year.. Where do you need support? Where do you need affirming?
3. Student Goals. Do your students know their goals for the rest of the school year? Their academic goals? Their social contract goals? EMPOWER students to know their goals and have opportunities to track their success!
How are you using your Social Contract?
We will continue working with and embedding the Social Contract into every aspect of the school day. Take time to began talking to your students about person goals for the remainder of the school year. If you would like I have copies of WIGS that you may have them create their goals and place them on their locker if they would like or have them create WIGS for a specific subject area in place in their notebooks, Also create a class goal as it relates to your Social Contract or area of academics you would like your class to improve upon.
