Every week is Anti-Bullying at PV, but November 13th-22nd we will make it a 6-day focus!
Our home liaisons are synergizing to identify fun activities and engaging lessons for you. Plan to talk to your classroom communities about:
- the expectation of being "Respectful" & "Responsible" and how that relates to interacting at PV with others
- how intimidation, harassment, or bullying will be tolerated at our school
- everyone has the right to come to school to learn in a place where ALL belong
- what bullying is and is not
- how the word bullying is a strong and overused word
- what to do if you are being intimidated or harassed by someone
- what to do if you witness someone being intimidated or harassed by someone else
We will have 2 anti-bullying assemblies the day before Thanksgiving Break. More information about the week will be shared.

November’s LIM Monthly Focus Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind- Have a Plan
For the next month we will all practice and teach Habit 2- Begin with End in Mind.
This is the habit of vision.
Principles: Vision, Commitment, and Purpose
Effective Paradigm: I live by design (vs. ineffective: I live by default.)
Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.
Results:
· A clear definition of desired results
· A greater sense of meaning and purpose
· Criteria for deciding what is or is not important
· Improved outcomes
BIG IDEAS to put into Practice….
Define outcomes before you act. Mental creation precedes physical creation. All things are created twice. First is the mental creation or plan; second is the physical creation or work. Highly effective people clearly see the outcome they want in every area of life before they act.
Create and Live by a Personal Mission Statement- Your purpose and meaning in life. A Personal Mission Statement is like a constitution by which you make all decisions for your life. Highly effective people shape their future instead of letting other people, their culture, or their circumstances determine it.
Benefits of a Personal Mission Statement include:
· Clarifies what is important to you
· Provides focus
· Helps you design your life instead of having it designed for you
· Guides your day-to-day decisions
· Gives you a greater sense of meaning and purpose
Key characteristics of an effective Personal Mission Statement:
· Expresses principles of effectiveness that produce quality-of-life results
· Provides direction and purpose
· Challenges and inspires you
· Communicates your vision and values
· Addresses your most important roles and responsibilities
· Addresses all four human needs (physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual)
· Represents the best within you
Mission Builder Tool Franklin Covey has an online resource. If you are interested in using this powerful tool for your own personal use, here is the link:

I encourage you to Create a class mission statement and post it inside and at the door of your classroom. Here are some guiding questions to use with your class:
· What big goals do we want to achieve or what do we want to accomplish?
· What do we want to be known for?
· How do we want to treat each other?
· What unique contributions can we make?
· What does each person bring to the group in terms of unique talents and skills?
