Peasant Life
In the 1700s, peasants ate a diet that consisted of fruits, vegetables, cheese, and bread. Their entertainment consisted of games sports, dancing, and talking.
In Western Europe, most peasants worked on their own patches of land, or other were tenants of large land owners. Serfdom was not popular in the west, except in France. In France, peasants provided free labor, such as farming the land of their owners, and repairing roads and bridges after spring floods.
In Eastern Europe, however, peasants were owned, and worked for lords, or other wealthy land owners. They were used for every imaginable task, and had basic to no freedom. Peasants were bought and sold with land.
