@ 9:30 am to walk with our Float!

Happy Friday Titans,

Tonight many of our Titans met under the "Friday Night Lights" of Roswell High School's Ray McManus Stadium. This BIG rivalry game is the perfect culmination of a winning week at Elkins Pointe Middle School! As a split-feeder, we shall be happy for the winning team regardless of if our Titans are future Hornets or future Eagles.

"Get Connected Night" was a fantastic success for this first-time event. Thank you to all our teachers, students and parents for your support of this PTSA sponsored event. You made it great! A big "Thank You" goes out to our PTSA Co-President, Laura Calvert, for making "Get Connected Night" happen because she loves Elkins just as much as we all do! Also, I have to give a "Shout Out" to Mr. Mendy because he and his drums were everything! Parents, if you were not in attendance, you must scroll through the photos to see Mr. Mendy playing the drums!

If you want to know what "HAPPY" looks like at Elkins Pointe, you should have been at the 6th-grade Tailgate Party. Thank you once again to our PTSA for putting on an event to connect our students. Our 8th-grade Web Leaders did a great job facilitating the game stations. We really appreciate Assitant Principal Ward, our 6th-grade teachers, and parents for making this event fun and memorable.

Next week on Thursday, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has invited parents to join them to celebrate in the new meeting location in our Media Center. It is a good thing that FCA has 75 students, it still growing, and has officially maxed out Mr. Billups' classroom. I love the idea of our FCS students bringing their parents! Not only does this allow parents to see how great FCA is, but it's a great opportunity to continue to connect with our parents and give them an opportunity to get involved!

On Friday, October 6th our teachers and staff will have a Full Release Day/Teacher Workday. Starting next Friday, you will be off to start your extra-long weekend while teachers and staff will be training to on SMART new ways to teach Personalized Learning!

Have a great weekend Titans!

Home of the Titans!

Celebrate Getting Connected!

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Staff,

Thank you all for helping to make our first "Get Connected Night" a success. In a time when we all have 5000 things going on, you made it a priority to be there for our students. This is my ninth year doing PTA work and it always makes my heart HAPPY to see the strong partnership between the school and PTSA in action making a difference. There was such a positive energy in the air at "Get Connected Night," and people left motivated and excited. As I looked around the cafeteria, I was touched by the familiar faces who made it a point to Get CONNECTED!

We had a steady flow of participation all evening. All of our grades were represented as were each of our feeder elementary schools. The presentation boards looked great. The carabiners and the takeaway cards were a huge hit! I loved seeing our students telling other students and parents about their clubs, activities or classes they represented. The pride was tangible. The parents I spoke with had positive feedback, and several families commented that they learned new information too.

  • Principal Smith, thanks for embracing the concept and adding your vision to make it even better. Our school is blessed by your leadership and commitment.
  • Teachers, Club Chairs, and Parent Advisors who greeted students and parents, you made sure there was a smiling face for all who walked through the door. There were numerous compliments on the hospitality. We are so very proud to showcase the ways you connect students with the most amazing activities, clubs, trips, service organizations, PE, music and World Language options.

  • The entire PTSA Board, thanks for believing in this event and putting the funds behind it to help connect our families. Thank you for the work we're doing this year which is truly elevating how we support our Titans. I'm so very proud of the accomplishments thus far, and very excited about what the rest of the year holds. Kristin Kelley, Jen Kardian and Lisa O'Hanlon Cowles, thanks for brainstorming, your assistance, ordering supplies and food, working out details, etc. You were key in making this happen. Maryanne Code/Ii, thanks for using your School Store connections to order presentation boards. Peggy Jackson, Ally Hayworth, and Christy Mitchel, you always just plunge in when you see a need. We are so very fortunate to have you on the team. Jaime Kohler, thanks for updating the bulletin boards; they look great.

As we go forward, PTSA wi/1 be putting out a survey to the school to see how we can continue to grow this event. If you have not yet joined or donated to PTSA, please consider clicking here to do so now. It is your financial support that makes events like "Get Connected Night' happen! So if you have been meaning to join and have a check sitting on the counter, it is not too late to contribute!

Thanks again,

Laura Calvert, PTSA Co-President

Thank you so much to all parents for helping out with the Tailgate. Just know that this was a great event. All the kids really enjoyed themselves, and it was made so much easier because of those of you who were able to help.

A very special THANK YOU to Marisa Harrer the PTSA VP, Student Services at EPMS for organizing this event, and Kim Friedman for your photography skills. Also, thank you to AP Ida Ward and all the 6th-grade teachers for chaperoning and "kicking it" with your students on the dance floor!

8th Grade Band Night w/ the RHS Hornets!

Thank you to Assistant Band Director, Ms. Kathleen Burkhardt, for the photos!

The World Languages teachers want to say "Merci, Arigatoo, and Gracias!" for all the World Languages students who brought water this week! We are taking all the donations to Buen Provecho restaurant in Marietta, so they can ship to Puerto Rico. Thank you for all the support!
