2022
Principal's Message
As we anticipate a busy month in May, let’s remind ourselves to take time and re-discover the many moments which brought joy and grace into our lives this past year. It was a great school year and I’ve been so fortunate to experience these precious moments with your children over the past year. For that, I am so very grateful. I wish each of you well as you begin your summer and welcome the 2022-2023 school year with renewed energy.
The week ahead is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. They are superheroes! While we will be celebrating them here at school (special thanks to PTO), if you get a chance to write them a note or have your child write them a note for Teacher Appreciation Week, I know it would mean so much to our staff who work tirelessly for your kids every day! *If you'd like to use the link on our website to send a digital note, click Staff Shout Out
Kindergarten Round-Up and Preschool Round-Up are scheduled in May (see flyers below). We are looking forward to our new students coming to be a part of MPS and having fun in their new classrooms and meeting their new teachers!
The Honors Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 8:00 AM. Invitations have been mailed out. If you are invited, please be sure to RSVP. We will be celebrating select 7 & 8-grade students, their parents, and special community members who have supported our school in special ways this year. We have not been able to have the Honors Breakfast for two years due to COVID, so we are very excited about this event.
We are planning a Color Fun Run during the last week of school (Tuesday, May 24th from 2-3 PM). Special thanks to PTO for sponsoring this fun event. You will be receiving a parent permission form soon in order for your child to participate. We are also looking for some parent volunteers to come out and help. We wanted to incorporate some community-building with a "healthy" theme to end the year. We are looking forward to this fun event with all our students and families!
The 8th grade trip to Wolf Ridge, which is usually held in the spring, has been changed to the fall of next school year. The eighth-graders will be going to Wolf Ridge during the week of September 26th - 30th. We will be having a parent meeting for ALL current 7th graders on Tuesday, May 6th at 6:00 PM in Mr. Twedell's classroom.
The last day for preschool and 8th grade will be Thursday, May 26th (with a 7:30 PM graduation celebration for our 8th-grade class). The last day of school for all K-7th grade students is on Friday, May 27th. Kindergarten graduation will take place at 9:30 AM.
We will be dismissing all students at 1:00 p.m.
We will resume school on Thursday, August 25th. The new school calendar for 2022-2023 can be found at the end of this newsletter, or on our school website at https://www.manvel.k12.nd.us/
Thanks for working with us again this year to keep our students and your family healthy through the end of this pandemic. I am hopeful we can continue to see "normalcy" again this Fall. Our students have been a great example of "resiliency" and were able to adapt to our crazy world in an extraordinary way! Even though our job is to teach kids ~ many times, they teach us a thing or two, too!
Have a restful and relaxing Summer! Thanks for sharing your children with us for another great year of learning!
