Philanthropy Fair 3/6

The Philanthropy Fair will be hosted on March 6th at Lakeview during Open House. Because we want 5th grade GATES students and their helpers to be able to share classroom work with their parents, 5th Grade Open House will be from 5:00-6:00. Students participating in the P.F. are advised to come early so that they can show their parents what they’ve been working on in the classroom before returning to the gym to set up. The Philanthropy Fair will be from 6:00-7:45 (and then clean up). At the entrances to the gym, we will have ticket booths set up where visitors can purchase tickets for a $1 each. Tickets can be used at the various booths to play games or purchase snacks and slime J ALL proceeds from the event will go to the causes each booth represents (DFW Humane Society, Cook Children’s, organizations that support veterans, etc.). Please invite your neighbors and friends to come support our causes!

PTA Remind 101 Account

We wanted to let you know about a new way to help you stay connected to the latest Lakeview PTA news. We’ve set-up a Remind 101 account just for the PTA. If you aren’t familiar, Remind 101 allows you to sign up to receive texts from a specific group. We love the idea that we can quickly get information out to our parents. To join, you can text @tclakeview to 81010 OR click this link:

As the state requires students to be in attendance 90% of the year, Lakeview will continue to follow state guidelines regarding this issue. If you have any questions we are happy to talk you through the process.

Absence notes are due no more than 3 days after the date of the absent. After 3 days, the absence will be marked as unexcused.

Ride Changes

Parents please be sure to send an email to and your child's teacher by 1:00pm to communicate ride changes. We will not release students to ride changes without confirmation from parents regarding ride changes.

Birthday Treats

Big picture
We love celebrating birthdays with our students! When planning on bringing in birthday treats, only pre-packaged store bought products are allowed. To ensure there is time to distribute birthday treats to classrooms, please have them in the office no later than 2:00. We are unable to hold ice cream or popsicles so please do not send treats that will melt. Also, if a treat does not have a label of ingredients it will not be shared with the class. Due to allergies we must know the ingredients for ALL treats. Due to sensitivity no balloons are allowed in the building.

Facebook and Social Media

Social media is a great way to keep up with and in contact with friends and family. When you are posting regarding Lakeview, please keep a few things in mind:

1. Think before you post, your words have power.

2.Do not post pictures or information of children who are not yours. Privacy is important so do not post pictures or information about other students without parent permission.

3. If you have a question regarding events or information regarding Lakeview, your best bet is to always email your child's teacher or call the front office.

4. If you are unhappy with a situation or would like to share a concern, please always email your child's teacher or contact our front office.

5. Finally, stay positive. No one benefits when community members disagree on line.
