About Delhi Tourism
If you plan to pack your bags for a Delhi visit, here are certain things that will interest you! New Delhi, as all of us know, is the Capital of India. Typically, Delhi Tour packages consist of a visit to Old Delhi’s monuments and New Delhi’s shopping and other modern facilities. I will tell you what more you can do while in Delhi to make your Delhi holiday packages the most memorable one. The tourism development department of India is promoting Delhi Tourism such that more tourists visit the state frequently to improve the economy of Delhi via tourism. Being the capital city, Delhi has very good roads and infrastructure to support the government. Delhi Tourism can leverage this infrastructure to further attract tourists. Contrary to many people’s belief New Delhi holiday packages can be availed at very reasonable and affordable rates. At the same time, New Delhi can also offer the most luxurious comforts for those who can afford it.
Specials of Travel packages
Reaching Delhi is very easy especially from metro cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Most of the flights from south India reach Delhi via Mumbai only. From the South, Delhi by train will take at least 24 hours or more. So most people prefer economy flights to Delhi so that they can save 2 precious days from their allowed holidays. Many options for Delhi tour package from Chennai, Delhi Tour packages from Bangalore, Delhi Tour packages from Hyderabad and Delhi tour packages from Mumbai can be availed online and are available offline also. Reputed tour operators can provide you a safe and rejuvenating tour of Delhi at affordable rates. While budget hotels are available for accommodation at Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk and the nearby areas of Old Delhi, more luxurious accommodations are available near Gurgaon, Noida and Connaught Place. Connaught Place is a good place to stay if you can afford the hotels there. It is easy to move to all the popular holiday destinations in Delhi from Connaught Place. There’s an ultramodern shopping area here with all branded shops and an underground street shopping area called Palika Bazaar for the budget buys. Being close to the official residences of Indian ministers, this area is less congested with traffic in the normal hours.
Attractions
In a tour of Delhi, you must not miss the most important historical monuments like the India Gate, Raj Ghat, Shakti Sthal, Shanti Van, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, the Red Fort, Lal Darwaza, Feroz Shah Kotla, Tomb of Safdarjung, Gandhi Smrithi, Indira Memorial and Jantar Mantar. Then there are other attractions like the Parliament house, Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Appu Ghar, various museums, metro ride, Birla Temple, Lotus Temple and the Akshardham temple which are quite amusing. The Delhi tourism conducts a day tour of Delhi’s most popular attractions which is called Delhi Darshan. It has a fixed timetable and a list of locations visited. Though Delhi Darsan covers most of these places, if you want to know more about the places you visit you need to spend more time there which is not possible in Delhi Darshan tours. So a better option is to opt for a customized tour in which you can spend more time to experience Delhi just the way you want to. The Qutub Minar, Ref Fort and Akshardham temple are places that should be seen in detail to experience the magic. The Red Fort should be seen in the evenings so that you can see the light and sound show conducted everyday evening there. The Red Fort also has 4 or 5 museums showcasing the history of India. Take a half day tour of Akshardham Temple to experience the magnificence of architecture and fine craftsmanship showcased there. You can watch the exhibitions, go for the indoor boat ride and also shop for souvenirs inside the temple complex. India Gate should be seen in the morning time after 9. Every day a customary salute parade is performed there after 9 am in respect of the gallantry soldiers who lost their lives for their country and countrymen. Ideally, in 2 days you can visit most of Delhi and one the 3rd day if you want you can go for shopping at Karol Bagh, Sarojini Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place or some of the prestigious malls in Delhi.

If you have more time, you can take a tour of Agra, Mathura, Hrishikesh, Haridwar, Shimla or Jaipur also. One of the most popular New Delhi tour packages is the Golden Triangle Package which consists of a tour of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. In this trip, you can visit most of the popular tourist spots in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. You need 3 to 5 days for a decent Golden Triangle package or else it will be a very hectic journey. A day tour of Agra is quite possible via Mathura and on your way back you can visit Fatehpur Sikhri also. Another day tour possible is to Haridwar and Hrishikesh. If you want to see the holy Ganga Aarti you will have to stay back a little late and return to Delhi late night. A tour to Shimla – Kasauti is also a popular option from Delhi. You need at least 2 days for this trip.
Delhi
My suggestion for a Delhi holiday trip would be to spend 3 days in Delhi so that you can take your time to savour this majestic place. Visit Agra via Mathura and stay overnight there so that you can see the splendour of Taj Mahal in the evening by sunset and also in the fresh morning air also. Agra Fort is another splendid place which should not be missed. If interested, you can visit Haridwar and Rishikesh to at least experience the holy Ganges River which remains ice cold even during the hottest of summer. You can take a boat ride through the river or go for river rafting also. The holy Ganga Aarti is a divine and mesmerising sight which can rejuvenate your mind. If you are not seeking God, you can take a trip to Shimla to cool off in the snowy mountains. A well-planned trip of 5 to 7 days in Delhi can be quite refreshing. Though there’s very little in Delhi for the nature lovers, Delhi can definitely leave you mesmerised with its grandeurs.
