AP English 11
Language and Composition
We have started the semester and we're off to a great start. Right now your child is working with a group of his/her peers "teaching" the class a section of the They Say, I Say book. We are studying the how-to's of academic writing, which your child has learned means argumentative writing. Be prepared for your child to have excellent arguing skills!!
If we could tell 'Old Man Winter' to stop letting it snow we would be able to start our first novel of the semester, The Great Gatsby.

Introduction
I've enjoyed getting to know your child through your homework assignment and these first few days of class. I thought you might want to know a little about me. I have been at SGHS for four years and I had many of your children as freshmen. I teach mostly English I and the AP English Language classes.
I just returned from maternity leave in January after having my first child, Harrison. He was born on October 14th and my husband and I are enjoying being new parents.
I love to read (shocker I know) and love to suggest books. Sometimes I input my opinion when I shouldn't. I originally went to school for musical theater, so it's not unusual for me to burst into song in the middle of class. I still perform in local theater!
I know that we're going to have an amazing semester!!
ACT
Every junior will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 4th.
Guilford County Schools has allowed students access to a great test prep material for the ACT. Click Here to access the site. Students must input the school code (1628136098) to access the QuickTest. They should use the log-in they use for the school computers as their user name and password.
It is HIGHLY suggested that students spend time using this to study!!!
