Welcome Back to School!

Our First Week
Arrival and Dismissal
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work out the kinks of our new arrival and dismissal procedures. As we work through this together, please keep the following in mind:
- All K-1 students and their siblings will participate in arrival and dismissal in the north loop (right by the K-1 hallway). Only 2-5 grades students without K-1 siblings should drop off and pick up in the south loop.
- Please make sure you have your school issued bright yellow car rider tag. Students will not be put in cars without those tags.
- Car rider dismissal doesn't begin until 3:30pm. It will help both the traffic on the streets and the traffic in our lots if cars can spread out their pick up times and not all arrive at or before 3:30.
- Please have students ride on and/or exit the car on the passenger side.
- Parents should remain in their vehicles during both arrival and dismissal.
- Please pull all the way to the end of the car rider loop, even during inclement weather. It is important that we are able to get as many cars into our loop as possible to prevent traffic backup on the streets.
Calling All Hawthorne Virtual Learners!
New Procedures
- If you are changing your child's default mode of transportation home, you must send a note to school or call the office no later than 2:00pm. We will not send students home a way other than the default mode of transportation without one of those two pieces of communication.
- If you coming by the building to drop off or pick something up or to pick up a student, please call the office when you are on your way so we can have what you need ready for you when you arrive.
- Our third, fourth and fifth grade students are eating lunch in their classrooms. We've discovered that our students could benefit from wet wipes during that time. If you're able to send wet wipes to school with your child for that purpose, it would be much appreciated!
Free Breakfast and Lunch for All KSD Students!
Beginning Thursday, September 10, meals are available Monday-Friday for students ages 1-18 within Kearney School District boundaries.
K-5 students attending school in person may receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Students who choose to eat breakfast at school will need to check in with their teacher, drop their belongings off in the classroom and then pick up their breakfast from the Commons. All students will eat breakfast in their classrooms.
Free meals include breakfast and lunch but do not include ala carte items, extra milk or
second lunches.
All meals (breakfast and lunch) will be available for KSD Connect students for curbside pickup at Kearney Elementary from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM each day. We encourage orders to be placed through the “SFE to Go” app.
Picture Day is FRIDAY!
Please note the following info:
Color backgrounds are not available to purchase online.
Add-ons are only available by purchase of a portrait package.
If you have more than one student at this school, you will need to complete each child's order with payment info each time.
