Steel Making Process
Henry Bessemer wanted to find out a cheap way to make steel so that the construction of guns would improve. What he came up with was he would blow air though the molten metal so to burn off the impurities and in return make the steel.,he patented his method in 1855.
oxidation
Henry used oxidation to get rid of the impurities in the metal. to do this you would blow air through the metal and it would remove the impurities as a gas or as slag witch can be take from the top. This method was also good because you could add things into the metal like a alloy. this process of making the steel helped the USA tremendously , it helped in the railroad which always need new rails because of the soft metal, and also in bridges because they kept collapsing.
