WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
READING & WRITING
Reading this week, we continued our read aloud, My Side of the Mountain. Learners are enjoying learning about surviving in the wilderness. We also began our unit on Drama, we identified the structure elements and how it helps readers understand the characters and their actions.
Math
In Math, we are classifying two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy using graphic organizers based on their attributes and properties.
SCIENCE
In Science, we continued our Earth Science Unit. This week we differentiated between climate and weather.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies this week, we began our unit on geography and how factors influence the location of economic activities.
Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
