Congratulations to Rowan Heryer!
Congratulations to Rowan Heryer, IHMS 8th grader, for being selected in the Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibition! In addition, Rowan is one of six middle school students to place in the Blick Youth Art Month Competition.
The Youth Art Month exhibition will be on display at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library through March 25th. The YAM reception and celebration will be Saturday, March 25th, from 1-2:30 pm.
Youth art month is celebrated annually in March to recognize and showcase the importance of art education and the creative achievements of young people across the United States. The goals of Youth Art Month are to promote art education as a vital part of a child’s education; to emphasize the value of art and creativity in developing critical thinking skills, and to encourage public support for quality art programs in schools. The month-long celebration provides an opportunity to showcase the artistic talents of young people and to recognize he important role that art education plays in their lives and in society as a whole.

Musical Crew Info and Opportunities for Students and Families!
We are so excited to get started on backstage work for this year’s musical! We would love to have you join. Please open our Google Form by QR code, or by typing this URL into your browser. There is more information about our crew positions on the google form.
Form URL: https://forms.gle/jffgsAR2NKTYUfJe6
We have TWO options for crew: PREP CREW and RUNNING CREW. See the Google Form for information about each.
Please note–we will collect a $20 activity fee from crew members before the end of March. This fee will go directly back to the student–it will pay for their t-shirt and dinners on the evenings of dress rehearsals. We will send more info home about the fee soon, reach out with any concerns!
We will hold a meeting in Ms. Smith’s room (Room 3) after school on Wednesday, March 22nd. (3:45-4:30) See you there!

Sewing Supplies Needed!
Are you working on spring cleaning? Does your craft or sewing room have supplies that you are tired of looking at? The sewing class at Indian Hills would love to have anything sewing related.
These items could include fabric, buttons, zippers, patterns, thread, or any other supplies you come across.
Please drop them off in the main office and we will put them to good use. If you have a large amount, or if you don’t make it up to the school regularly, email phillipmanuel@smsd.org and I can do a home pick up.
Thank you from the students in room 124!
