Davis/Martin Peek at the Week
August 21st - August 25th
Dear Parents,
A fantastic first week of school is officially in the books! We had a great time getting to know one another, as well as becoming familiar with classroom routines and procedures. Students even created classroom mission statements for the year. Be on the lookout for photos of those on our Facebook page. Speaking of Facebook... if you have not joined our page checkout the reminders section of this newsletter to learn how you can!
This week's newsletter contains A LOT of information. Below you can read about what your child will be learning this week in all subject areas. You can also see what homework will be assigned, as well as any upcoming tests. Reminders and important dates are at the very bottom.
Reading logs will begin this week. Students will need to read 5 nights out of the week for about 20 minutes each night. If you would like to initial next to the nights your child reads, please feel free to do so. Reading logs are due the following Monday morning. Also, be on the lookout for our first Scholastic book order going home this week!
On Monday students will get a chance to watch the Solar Eclipse! Remember that permission slips must be returned in order for students to participate. This week our fifth graders will be taught some basic lessons about the MacBooks they will be using this year. We had our MacBook Kickoff on Friday and our students were so excited!
