ILT Update
Our focus was on Whisper Coaching and the following guiding questions:
What seemed critical within this technique?
To be effective, what might need to take place before, during and after the coaching opportunity?
How is the coach keeping the focus on students and connecting to teacher practice?
Who would this be an effective practice for and why?
Over the next month, ILT members will be attempting the "whisper" coaching technique. We hope that many of you will be open to allowing ILT members to try this with you in order to support classroom instruction to ultimately increase student proficiency. Thanks to Mr. Pickard for going first and allowing Julea to "whisper" coach him through a "model." Kudos!!

Goshen Community Schools will be hosting three public meetings to further explain the Strategic Planning Facilities Committee recommendation to the school board. Please plan to attend one of the meetings listed below to learn more about the rationale that led to this recommendation and to give your input. There will be table group discussions held following the presentation in order to receive feedback from the public.

News from Central Office
1. Beginning next week, coats from the United Way Coat Drive will be available at Central Office (in Registration area) for students and family members in need.
2. Because of our sub shortage and the number of long term substitute teachers we are managing, we will not be hiring long term subs for paras or TOIs through the HR office. If a classified staff member is eligible for and in need of a sub, he/she should process that request through willSub. Remember, the only paras we should be getting a sub for are 1:1 paras, classroom paraprofessionals for our STRIVE and Life Skills classrooms. These individuals are eligible to get a substitute in their absence because of safety reasons and/or because of the legal implications of implementing student IEPs. If you have a unique situation that you believe warrants an exception, please contact Tammy in HR.
3. Remember to encourage staff, parents and patrons to attend Community Meetings: Please help us to get the word out……GCS will host two more public meetings to further explain the Strategic Planning Facilities Committee recommendation to the school board last spring. As you may recall, their recommendation was to proceed with building a new 5-8 Intermediate School on the school-owned property at SR 119 and Greene Road, and to convert GMS into a 5-8 Intermediate School as well. We encourage staff members to attend one or more of the meetings listed below to learn more about the rationale that led to the recommendation and to offer your input. There will be table group discussions held following the presentation in order to receive feedback from those in attendance.
Meetings will be held at these locations and times:
Monday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the Goshen High School Cafeteria
Tuesday, December 12, at 6:00 p.m. at the Goshen Middle School Cafeteria
Enjoy the weekend! Snow is on its way next week J
