Tamanend Middle School Orientation for Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Current 6th Graders
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Current 6th Graders:
Middle School Orientation for parents of current 6th Graders will be held at Tamanend Middle School on Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 PM. The program will begin in the Main Gym where teachers from our different curricular departments will be available in an open-house format to provide information about classes. At approximately 7:25, we will move to the Auditorium for a presentation about middle school life, programs, extra curricular activities, athletics, and answers to frequently asked questions.
You can click here to learn about the many middle school orientation/transition activities that will occur between now and September. This information will be updated regularly. We are very excited to work with you and your child during the middle school years.
Please note: Parents of students with IEPs are invited to attend an informational session at 6:30 PM in Room 302 run by our Special Education staff.
Sincerely,
Brian D. Caughie, Ed.D.

Reading March Madness (Grades 3-6) and Read Across America (K-2)
Information was sent home last Wednesday (paper and electronic) about a reading incentive game I created for students. The game involves a bookmark (the child's reading log) and a little luck. Students are simply asked to read on a nightly basis (if they want to) and have their parent / guardian sign (initial) their bookmark. From there, students will play against other classes in their grade level. If the students turn in their bookmark, they can try to score a few baskets by playing a game of chance.
Historically, the students have truly enjoyed this game. I'm hopeful it can incentivize your child to read while having some fun!
Families (Grades K-2),
Last Wednesday, families received information for students in grades K-2 about Read Across America. For every 20 minutes read, a student completes a reading log to turn in for a chance to win a Reading Raffle Basket. The basket includes some really nice prizes!
