Laura Speed Elliott Middle School Back-to-School Update

Dear LSE Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. Middle school is a wonderful, exciting adventure and we are excited to welcome your student to Laura Speed Elliott Middle School. This year we have added additional elective courses to enhance your child’s middle school experience. Along with additional courses, the LSE faculty and staff have a collective commitment to promoting your child’s sense of belonging and purpose.

Below are a few updates to keep you informed as we approach the start of a new school year.

District Online Registration

All families should complete the online registration through the District website prior to registration. District Registration link: Boonville Schools Website

Bus Transportation

Bus transportation requests are a part of the online registration process. All requests must be made online by Friday, August 5 to ensure ridership on the first day of school. If you miss the deadline, contact the First Student bus barn office directly for assistance.

In-Person Registration Event

Wednesday, August 17 - 3:30-7:00 pm

7th/8th grade registration

Thursday, August 18 - 3:30-7:00 pm

6th grade registration

Students will receive schedules and locker assignments, meet teachers, visit classrooms, and learn about services and opportunities provided at LSE.

School picture day will be held on Tuesday, August 30.

Arrival and Dismissal Times

First Day of School: Tuesday, August 23

The first day of school is an early dismissal.

Doors open at 7:45 daily

Class begins at 8:10 daily

Early dismissal at 1:20 pm.


Each student will be issued a Chromebook the first week of school and the Chromebook will be returned to the student’s homeroom cart at the end of each school day. Chromebook insurance coverage is $30/student for the entire year. If a family completes the Free and Reduced Lunch application, even if they do not qualify, the student will receive a discounted $15 price for a full year of coverage. This applies to both LSE and BHS students.

Cell Phones

Students will be required to put their phones in a caddy or up during each class period. Students are not allowed to be on their phones in any classroom during class time. If you need to contact your student during the school day, please contact the main office of LSE: 660-882-6649

Parent drop off/pick up: North doors of LSE by the public library

Buses: West doors of LSE at the main entrance

LSE Fall Athletics

LSE offers cheerleading, cross country, football, and volleyball to our 7th and 8th grade students. Each coach will publish practice times for their corresponding sport.

Sports Physicals

Students will need a completed physical and insurance to practice and participate.

Mizzou Physical Therapy is offering free sports physicals for LSE and BHS students on Friday, August 5 from 2-4 p.m. The physicals will take place at Mizzou Therapy Services, 1420 Ashley Road in Boonville. If you are interested, call (660) 882-3420 to make an appointment.
