Principal's Message

Dear Families,

I'd like to start by thanking all of you for your support as we work through the transitions to our learning model changes.

Anecdotally, the students opting for in-person learning seem excited about the return as do the students opting into or returning to the Remote Learning Academy. I was able to spend a lot of time in classrooms and with students over the last couple of days. With the two cohorts of hybrid students combining into one in-person class, teams of teachers are working on lessons and activities to build/ rebuild their classroom communities together.

My biggest concern is ensuring that we are supporting everyone; students, staff, and families, through the transition while we continue to observe our prevention protocols. Even though we've been planning for this for weeks, over the course of a weekend, our students and teachers saw their classes nearly double in size. The class sizes are smaller than they would be ordinarily with the continuation of Remote Learning Academy classes, but it is still a striking change, and for some, it can feel overwhelming.

Our teachers, counselors, and administrative team are sensitive to this and have been planning strategies to address issues that might come up around the changes.

Overall, the transition has gone very well. I'm grateful to all of our staff and our school district's support for their hard work to get us here and very thankful for the partnership that we share with all of you.

In other FSS News,

  • The Bolton Police Department and the FSS Student Council agreed to extend our Fill the Cruiser Food Drive for WHEAT through this week. There is still time to fill up the cruiser.

  • Report Cards will be issued on Friday.

  • With more students walking to and from the Trinity Church parking lot, please be mindful of your speed on campus.

  • If you are picking up your child at Trinity Church Parking lot, please wait to leave until all students have gotten into their cars.

  • Remember that tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7 is an early dismissal for students at 12:15 pm.

Yours in partnership,

Joel Bates,
