NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING
Today is National Day of Racial Healing; observance and participation in this day are opportunities for us to do our own work towards racial healing. As President Akande’s message announced, we are planning a series of events in February for Black History Month which will be announced later this month. For more information or to be included in the planning contact Lisa Mazzariello (mazzariello@champlain.edu).
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION STATEMENT FOR YOUR SYLLABUS
The Spring 2021 Course Standards mandate that each syllabus must include a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement. A sample statement is available to all faculty in the DEI Toolkit Canvas course, and can be found on here. You are also welcome to write your own.
NEW FACULTY AND STAFF LEARNING COMMUNITY: WELL-BEING INITIATIVE
COVID19 has been stressful and hard on our campus community. To meet the needs of our faculty, staff and students, Champlain College, in partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital (GMH), will provide a program for faculty and staff titled the Well-Being Initiative. Specialists from the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH will lead a multi-session Positivity and Relaxation Training (PART) program, specifically geared toward higher education. Faculty and staff who participate will receive a free book and will learn valuable stress management techniques that can be applied in the classroom and in learning environments. Participants will develop a variety of self-care practices over the course of the program, practices they can pass on to our students and others in our community.
Please consider joining if you want to help your students increase their resilience or if you could benefit from self-care during this time.
The learning community will meet weekly throughout Spring Semester. The first meeting will be Wednesday, February 22nd at 11 am. To sign up for this incredible program: Faculty, please contact rmills@champlain.edu. Space is limited.
