Topic: Working While Living With Multiple Myeloma


Anya Prince, Staff Attorney, Cancer Legal Resource Center

Anya Prince is a Staff Attorney with the Cancer Legal Resource Center. She grew up in the Los Angeles area and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2004, with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. In 2006, she moved to Washington, D.C., to attend Georgetown University Law Center. She graduated in May 2010, with a joint degree: Juris Doctorate and Masters of Public Policy. During law school, Ms. Prince interned at a variety of non-profit and government organizations, working in employment law with a focus on genetic law and policy. Anya Prince is a member of the California state bar.

The Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC) is a national, joint program of the Disability Rights Legal Center and Loyola Law School Los Angeles. The CLRC provides free information and resources on cancer-related issues to cancer survivors, caregivers, health care professionals, employers, and others coping with cancer.

Amy Garofalo

Amy Garofalo lives in Connecticut with husband of 22 years and two boys ages 16 and 13. She started her own small Medical Transcription Company in 1996 and she also works for Middlesex Hospital as their Transcription Department Coordinator. Amy was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in April of 2011 – 7 months after starting her new job with Middlesex Hospital. She had a stem cell transplant, after many setbacks, on April 18, 2012. Her husband has set up a CaringBridge site for her at where she writes about her journey with Multiple Myeloma.

Matt Goldman - Co-Host

Matt Goldman was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in May, 2011 at the age of 49. With the help of his team of doctors, he has achieved partial remission and is currently in a maintenance phase of treatment. He had his stem cells collected in December, 2011, but has no current plans to undergo a stem cell transplant. His two primary doctors are Dr. James Berenson and Dr. Vu Phan. Matt is a land use planner for the Port of Long Beach. He is recently married and enjoys spending time with his dog and on his bike. He has a blog that documents his journey, and is also on twitter at @mpg61.

Pat Killingsworth

Myeloma Beacon columnist and blogger, Pat was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April 2007 at age 51. Pat is an author of four myeloma books Pat’s books include, Living with Multiple Myeloma, Stem Cell Transplants-A Patient’s Perspective, and New Multiple Myeloma Therapies, and Financial Aid for Myeloma Patients and Caregivers.
