The Bear Facts!

November 20, 2020

Dear Clinton Families,

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your partnership this year. We see you in the background of the "classroom" helping where needed. We see that you have organized your child's space, whether at home or somewhere else, to prevent disruptions to the learning. We see you taking time off of your busy day to run get a Chromebook or supply bag for your child. Clinton teachers have told us that they are "in the groove" of virtual learning and that they are so proud of their students. This would not be possible with your partnership. So thank you!

As we once again begin to shut down and stay home to stay safe, know that your children are being well taken care of by Clinton teachers. This is not the "crisis teaching" of the Spring. This is thoughtful, individualized, planned instruction, in partnership with you. This is #Clintonstrong2020.

Please stay well.

Until we all return to the physical building, we remain #Clintonstrong2020!

Fondly, Jennifer Connors, Principal & Zoila Correa, Assistant Principal

A Message from the School Nurse

Hello My Clinton Families,

I hope you are all well and staying safe. I wanted to reach out to you all to let you know that even though we are physically apart we are always connected. I miss being in my office and seeing all of my Clinton kids each day and hearing their stories and taking care of them. I want you to know that I am here, if you have any questions or concerns or if your child would like to say hi or check in with me I am happy to do so. I have been popping into classes to stay connected. Please email me and I will be happy to say hi. I have been encouraging the students to practice wearing masks, even while at home to build up mask endurance. My nursing colleagues and I are meeting regularly to be prepared for a safe return to school.

In the meantime, if your child has a physical exam or receives any immunizations please email the forms to me. Also for those students who will require medication in school, this would be a good time to have the district required medication permission slips completed by the doctor, you can email them to me as soon as they are completed and I will keep them on file for when we return. Those forms are found on the district website under Nursing Services. If you have difficulty finding them, let me know and I will email them to you.

Be well. Stay Safe. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Your Nurse,

Joann Harrigan

New Digital Books in MackinVIA

We just received a new order of 98 digital books in MackinVIA and I wanted to highlight some of them as they will support our readers. We now have Dragon Masters, I Survived e-books in addition to audiobooks, Amulet and Raina Telmegeier graphic novels, One and Only Ivan, Nate the Great, Geronimo Stilton and more. I also continued to diversify our collection with exciting new titles that tackle social issues. Remember that you can access them through Canvas, from http://somsd.mackinvia.com/ or the MackinVIA app.
