Biblical Leadership

Stewardship

Recognize God's Ownership

A huge part of stewardship is recognizing that God owns everything. Whatever we posses or own is ultimately what he has allowed us to have. Its all on loan. This concept helps the Biblical Leader see their possessions as Gods. Colossians 1:16 is a great explanation of this concept.

Correct Motivations

It is of the utmost importance to have the correct motivations when stewarding and giving. We should not be giving out of obligation or for the eyes of men. We should be giving out of joy and obedience to our convictions. This will help spur on spiritual growth. 2 Corinthians 9:7 talks more about the right attitude of giving.

Benefits of Giving

As a christian there are certain benefits of properly stewarding your possessions. Your spiritual growth will increase if done properly. You will have a proper understanding of your position under God. Also you will build spiritual riches in Heaven. Matthew 6:20 explains this in more detail.

Teaching the Youth

It is necessary to pass on the principles of stewardship to the next generation. These principles need to be taught in the Sunday school classes and at the home. The parents of the youth should provide biblical examples and instruct their children. Proverbs 22:6 is a great verse to look to to understand the importance of instructing a child.
