What is the Industrial Revolution?
The Industrial Revolution is a time period between the 1700s and the 1800s. During this time period children were not well taken care of. Every able family member had to work in order for them not to be homeless. The transition also included going from hand production to machines. The result to all these new machines and factories was not clean.
Child Labor
When the industrial revolution first came, families quickly migrated from rural farm area to the new industrialized cities. Once they got to the city things were not as bright as they hoped. Families had to have every able family member go to work. This led to child labor in factories. Children were not treated well, overworked, and were given very little pay.
The First Light Bulb
One of the biggest inventions in the Industrial Revolution. Inventor: Thomas Edison.
Child Labor
One of the unsatisfying things about the Industrial Revolution.
The First Sewing Machine
Gave the people the ability to sew clothes faster.
Inventer(s): Elias Howe and Isaac SingerThe Assembly Line
An assembly line is a manufacturing process in which parts are added as the product is moved from work station to work station until the product is finally finished. Many people may think or thought that Henry Ford invented the assembly line, but that is not necessarily the truth. The assembly line was first created by Ransom E. Olds. Only later on did Henry Ford improve the assembly line greatly. Thanks to both of the inventors humanity has a way to get things done quicker.
Inventors
Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell was one of the inventors in industrial revolution. His impact on the world was huge! Alexander Graham Bell created the first practical telephone. The fact that he started the telephone started something big. Inventors have improved the telephone through the years and now the telephone or now known as the phone has gone from an electric voice transmission device the was hard to hold to a cordless, and easy to carry phone.
James Watt
James Watt was yet another inventor in the industrial revolution. James Watt was a Scottish inventor and mechanical engineer. James Watt invented the steam engine. He gave us the ability to have transportation easier. The steam engine's function is basically to give a machine a motor. The steam engine ran all the machines in the factory, so the steam engine obviously is important and gave a big impact on the world.
George Westinghouse
George Westinghouse, Jr. was an engineer and a pioneer of the electrical industry. George Westinghouse was one of the inventors in the industrial revolution that made a big difference. He invented the railway air brake. What he had invented helped transportation safer. The railway air brake was capable of stopping the train faster. Therefore, there was less train accidents.
