Critique and Revision

Teaching students about critique and revision can change how they view assessment. We often encourage students to persevere, but have we taught them how to do so? Learning how to provide feedback and turn feedback into improvement can change your classroom culture. Student will move away from, "Let me just get this done and turn something in," to "Now that I have feedback, I can make this better." In the video below, Ron Berger uses the story of Austin to show other students how to persevere in order to improve work.

Dashboard and Activity Stream

Did you know that when you create or update an assignment in Canvas, it automatically populates the Syllabus, Gradebook, and Calendar? This makes it so much easier for students to use the Canvas Dashboard. Give every user a customized view of the latest, most relevant course information and make it a whole lot easier to stay on task and focused on learning.

FREE Video Streaming Options to Support your Curriculum

  1. YouTube/Vimeo: Through Canvas you can use any course (even if you don’t have students using it) and go to Settings and add Vimeo and/or YouTube to the course. And YES, you can access on the network! Then you have FREE access to all videos that exist with no ads, suggested videos, etc. You can then just pull up the course in Canvas and project the video to the whole class. Here is how you add the App to the course ( and here are directions to embed a video on a page ( Please feel free to have your principal reach out to our EdTech liaison if you and your staff need training.
