Taylor West - Professional Photographer
The Description
Photography is the art of processing photographs and taking pictures. Photographers are used for many different things including portraits, commercial/industry, aerial, scientific, new, and fine arts. Most photographers now are all digital based and self-employed, meaning they must work to gain their business.
Salary and Benefits
The average pay ranges between 47,854 to $68,037 per year. Depending on the amount of time you put into this career, or if it is a side job, your pay rate
could be different. Hourly, the average salary is $15.24. If you are self-employed, then you're able to pick your own prices for the cost of your photography sessions.
Education Requirements
Postsecondary education is not a requirement to be a photographer, but to enhance and hep their success, most people will work for a bachelors degree or an associates degree in arts or fine arts. Depending on the job you want and the amount of time you want to put into it, your needed education can vary. If you want to create your own business, then you might want to consider a business degree, also.
Job Outlook
The job outlook for photographers is recorded to be slower than most job rates. From 2014 to 2024 the overall growth is said to be only a three percent increase. The rate for photographers is lower than most jobs because of the ability to purchase your own digital camera for a reasonable price. Many people have inherited photography as a hobby, so the employment rate for self-employed photographers is going up, also.
