LIVELY MIDDLE SCHOOL
Week of January 27, 2020
PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Greetings Falcon Nation,
It was a short week at Lively as we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday on Monday. The following are some reminders as we approach the end of January. The first is to please complete the parent survey. Your feedback matters and helps us improve communication and services. Please see the information below to complete the survey.
Second, mark your calendar and join us on February 14th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Lively cafeteria for our Love, Laugh, Lively, family potluck! Bring something to share and visit with your school community. Photojournalism students will be taking family pictures at the event. All photos will be shared in our school slide show at the end of the year awards celebration in May. If you would like to attend, please RSVP here- all are welcome https://forms.gle/gGkBX6nzJK8kg7ZR6 .
Finally, registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open. Registration assistance for families will take place on the following dates and times:
- February 7th from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during parent coffee
- April 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and May 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the cafeteria
Please go to austinisd.org and log in to your AISD Parent Cloud account and update all of your child's information.
When you register, be sure to opt-in for the telemedicine services. Lively was selected as the telemedicine pilot campus for the 2020-2021 school year. Telemedicine will allow all students to access medical care through our partnership with Virtual Care for Kids (VCFK). We are bringing pediatricians to your school health room via telemedicine!
What does this mean for our school?
Now our students can immediately be treated by a pediatrician when they aren't feeling well at school. This doctor's visit will take place right from the school health room on campus. Every day at campuses across the district, students suffer through symptoms while they wait for an appointment to be scheduled offsite, which can sometimes take days. The pediatricians at Virtual Care for Kids are local Texas-based providers who specialize in high-quality medical care for children of all ages (up to 21).
How does this service work?
Step 1: Parents or guardians register their child through the parent portal during the online student registration process (https://my.austinisd.org) before this service being made available to the student.
Step 2: Once the student is registered, when they don't feel well during school hours, they can visit a school health room on campus as they usually would. From there, they will be evaluated on-demand by a pediatrician virtually in conjunction with a pediatric medical assistant who will be located in the school health room with the nurse.
Step 3: The school health rooms will be equipped with onsite tests such as strep and flu as well as over the counter medications such as fever reducers. This allows the VCFK pediatrician to diagnose, treat the symptoms, and ultimately provide a treatment plan for the student, including a prescription if needed.
Step 4: If a prescription is needed, then it will be sent immediately and electronically to the pharmacy of the parent's or guardian's choosing where they can quickly pick it up on the way to pick up their child. A visit summary can be provided to the parent or guardian as well as their primary pediatrician.

PLAYGROUND FOR LIVELY AND PLAN FOR GOOD
Plan for Good is a daily paper planner that donates 10% of the proceeds to the Playground Project at Lively. The planner is designed on high quality paper that does not bleed and rivals much more expensive planners! Best of all, a full page is dedicated to every day of the year. As you can imagine, this is a hefty planner. The beauty of this planner is in its simplicity: because it's meant to mobile, it's bound by one inch metal rings that open/close, allowing you to only carry what you want.
To purchase a planner, please go to the website: https://planforgood.square.site and be sure to designate for the 10% donation to go to the Lively Playground Project.
