## A Busy Week

## 3rd Grade
*3.OA.1 Students should know that the product of 5 x 7 means 5 groups with 7 things in each group. *3.OA.2 Students should know that quotients represent shared quantities. For example if we have 56 divided by 7, they need to realize that 56 is being shared 7 ways or 7 at a time until 56 is reached. *3.OA.3 multiplication and division word problems **Focus on multiplication and division
*LS.3.3.3 Compare and contrast complete and incomplete metamorphosis and embryonic development (Life Cycles) | ## 4th Grade
*4.OA.1 and 4.OA.2 Solving word problems related to multiplication and division; interpreting multiplication equations as comparisons- 5 x 7=35 means 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 35 is 7 times as many as 5. *4.OA.4 Factors and Multiples *4.NBT.6 Two digit by one digit division Ex. 48/6
*ESS.8.4.10 Weather-related natural disasters | ## 5th Grade
*5.NBT.2 understand the placement of the decimal point when a number is multiplied or divided by a power of ten. Use whole number exponents for powers of ten. *5.NBT.3 read, write, and compare decimals to the thousandths *5.NBT.4 rounding decimals **FOCUS this week on rounding decimals
*LS.2.5.1 Cell theory *LS.2.5.2 Examine cells on a microscopic level *LS.2.5.3 Cell functions in organisms |

## Resources

As you probably know, we are a Google school. The computers our kids are on each day are google chrome books. It is important that they are proficient with this technology for classroom lessons and even state tests that will be administered using it. This site gives lots of tips and tricks for Google.

Prodigy Game is a great way for you to set up a free account for multiple kids. This puts a fun and competitive spin on the standards!

Kahn Academy...This site has excellent demo lessons for each standard. You can create a profile (free) for your child or just search for videos on whatever topic they are studying in their classes.

LearnZillion...You can create a free login for your child to view lots of outstanding video demonstrations of specific content topics that they are studying in their class at the time.

Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks for Science are located on this page. These are the current standards that we teach in science. However, we will be transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards in a few years. I will keep you updated on this as we learn more.

IXL...this is a great site for practicing math concepts. If you go to the site and find the standards for Arkansas you can click on the specific standard your child is working on this week (notated above). You can do a few things a day free, but it is unlimited if you pay for a membership.

PTA...this is an outstanding guide for you guys to consider when understanding the common core state standards.
