LibGuides 101
Research guides, hand-created by your UNCG librarians.
What are LibGuides?
LibGuides are web pages that revolve around a central topic. They contain resources that have been hand-picked by librarians -- often who have training in the field their LibGuide is related to. LibGuides can contain everything from links to databases, videos, books, and even things like Pinterest boards and Twitter Feeds. Above all, LibGuides are a way for you to get an immediate list of recommended resources from the most knowledgeable librarians possible.
How to Find a Guide that's Right for You
UNCG has over 500 different research guides available for students. But how do you find the ones that are going to be best for you?
Visit the link above, then try:
Searching by subject
When LibGuides are organized by subject, you can easily break them into categories like Art, Biology, Dance, Economics, and more. By clicking on these "subject headings," you can see all of the guides that have been categorized under these subject headings.
Searching by type
UNCG has two main forms of LibGuides -- our "normal" LibGuides (also called Research Guides), and our Course Guides. Many classes which are taught at UNCG have accompanying Course Guides, and you may be able to find a Course Guide for one of the classes you're enrolled in now!
Searching by owner
Already know of a specific librarian who's work you want to see more of? Many of our librarians write multiple LibGuides, usually within the same subject matters. By arranging the LibGuides by owner (what LibGuides call "authors"), you can see all the guides written by specialists at the library.
Searching by keywords
Not sure what your research topic would fall under? No worries! Our LibGuide page has an embedded search box. Simply type in the research you're looking for, and our search page will give you back the best LibGuide to meet your needs.
