Google Classroom for Novice Users

Google Classroom helps teachers create, assign, and collect student classwork and homework paperless. With Google Classroom, teachers can seamlessly integrate Google Docs, Google Drive, and Gmail to create assignments, provide feedback for in progress and completed work, and communicate with their students directly and with whole class announcements--all without using a single piece of paper. Students can work on assignments in Google Docs and turn it in with a few clicks. Technology Resources for Differentiation
Course Num: 311 (3)
This workshop is designed to provide users with instruction on how Kami and Table of Contents are used to differentiate content and/or process. A sample of how this is used in a Math class will be the guide for instruction during the workshop. With Kami, students can use the touchscreen feature of the Chromebooks to view, annotate, share and collaborate on documents within the Chrome web browser. Adding a table of contents makes it easy for your students and other collaborators to quickly navigate to particular sections of a document.

Common Core Vocabulary Instruction
Course Num: 309 (3)
This workshop will focus on ways to incorporate vocabulary instruction into the Reading Workshop. We will review and practice applying structures such as the three tiers of vocabulary referenced in the CCSS, and learn more about strategies such as Marzano’s Six Step Process for Teaching Academic Vocabulary. An additional hour of PD credit will be given to teachers choosing to create and share with fellow participants a lesson based on the strategies discussed.

By engaging in several close reading exercises, teachers will learn more about structures to support close reading with their students. “Units of Study for Teaching Reading” Preview

Come preview the new Units of Study for Teaching Reading book sets. This workshop will involve exploring the new book sets and discussing the pros and cons to possibly incorporating this resource into our literacy curriculum in the years ahead.
