Principal's Message

Dear Falcon students and families,

I hope you all had an great weekend and were able to get some rest and sun in the second half of the weekend! This past week saw many of our students beginning their final assessments for the year. We also hosted all our new grade 10 students and their parents at the Bev Facey "Beach Bash". It was attended very well, and we were happy to have our students and staff tour the parents and our new Falcons throughout the school to feature all the great opportunities. The week ended with our students starting the first day of the 2022 exam session with their math finals or diploma exam.

The upcoming week is full of exams. Please refer to the exam schedule for details of the students' final assessments or diploma exams. We also want to encourage students to reach out to their teachers if they need support preparing for their exams. Students can do so by emailing their teacher a request to see if an academic coaching session can be arranged.

On that note, I hope you all have an amazing Sunday evening and a great upcoming week and, as always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

EIPS Opens Land-Based Learning Space on Indigenous Peoples Day - June 21

EIPS has been working closely with Elder Wilson Bearhead to design and build a land-based learning space at EIPS Central Services. As part of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on June 21, EIPS will officially open the space, honour our ongoing relationship with Elder Wilson and affirm our commitment to deepen our relationship with the land that sustains us. Exams June 20 to 24, 2022 Students should be reminded: to arrive at least 15 minutes before their exam start time. to ensure that they do not bring a phone, smart watch, or any Wi-Fi enabled electronic device into the exam area. to make sure they bring a picture ID to enter their exam venue. they must stay for at least one hour after the official start of the exam. I was blown away by the final projects that our Musical Theatre students produced this past week. Amazing voices, dance moves, and awesome acting chops were demonstrated by all!

Our awesome Photography 20/30 students showcased their Final Stretched Canvas Projects this week to complete their class. Some amazing artistry at work!

On Thursday, June 16 Bev Facey welcomed over 300 parents and new grade 10 students for the next year in our fun tour and activity based "Beach Bash"! Our amazing students acted as tour guides, while staff provided information, and administration served up barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs. It was so great to meet our incoming grade 10's and their parents and start the relationships that will be so important to us all over the next three years!

Bev Facey Band Parent Association

We are looking to begin a "Band Parent Association". This organization would help to support our Bev Facey Concert Band, which would allow our band students be able to have the best experiences possible as well as to encourage the program's growth. National Indigenous Peoples Day – No exams today! Central office will be having their ceremonial opening of their FNMI outdoor learning space.
Grand Opening of the Outdoor Learning Space at Central- begins at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be streamed live on the EIPS Facebook page.

Grade 10 Practical Money Skills

In Grade 10, many teenagers may have started their first part-time job and begun to receive a regular paycheque. In these engaging and relevant learning activities, students will be introduced to strategies to save their money and manage debt and assets.

Grade 11 Practical Money Skills

By Grade 11, many students are starting to think about their future, are likely making a steady income from a part-time position, and are making financial decisions on a regular basis. These practical money skills will familiarize Grade 11 students with pay stubs, savings options, and loans and credit options.

Grade 12 Practical Money Skills

After Grade 12, high school students will be heading into the world and will encounter new expenses and more financial decisions. As over half of young adults obtain their first credit card between ages 18-20, this series of activities explores how to choose the right credit card, and how to read and understand a credit card statement.

Money Management for 17-25 Year Olds

For young adults aged 17-25, making independent financial decisions will become a skill in their everyday lives. In these money management and financial learning activities, youth will be introduced to the emergency fund and types of income.
