STAAR Time!
Reading/ELA
In May, our responsible readers will continue to prepare for the STAAR Reading test. We are currently working on reading strategies and skills to further our learning. Make sure your child reads daily for 25-30 minutes to support their reading growth and build stamina. Make sure students are doing iStation daily for 20 minutes.
In Language Arts, we are wrapping up our poetry collection and continue working on our grammar skills with commas.
Please continue to encourage your child to read daily for 30 minutes, as well as practicing on iStation for 20-25 minutes.
*iStation must be downloaded on the student's computer, if it is not downloaded please use the following link to find the device being used and successfully download it.
Math
Data Analysis and STAAR
Math is moving closer to the 4th grade finish line! We are just about done with conversion of measurements and will begin data analysis. All of this new learning goes right along with our STAAR review to prepare for May 11th. Keep working!!!
Please encourage your student to practice on iReady at home for 15 minutes.
Science
Science News
The following weeks , our 4th grade students will use their research skills to create a Project based on what they learned about organisms.
The topics include ecosystems, adaptations, life cycles and more. This project will complete the Science lessons for the school year 2020-2021. Do not forget to motivate your student to do his/her work with quality and to complete it on time.
Please make sure your student completes the assignments in Schoology everyday.

This month in Social Studies, students will revisit two important units: "The Exploration and Colonization of Texas" and "Revolution and the Republic of Texas". Students will have the opportunity to dive deeper into each of the following topics: Europeans Exploring Teas, Empresarios and New Settlers, Conflict Leads to Revolution, and The Republic of Texas.
