Digitally Yours
February may be the shortest month of the year, but it's packed with so many great celebrations. Check out the video below if you or your students are curious as to why February is the shortest month. In February, we celebrate Black History Month. ThinkCerca has 46 differentiated lessons/ resources to teach critical thinking, close reading and argumentative writing related to Black History Month. 306: African-American History also has 15 free modules for students in grades 9-12. We also celebrate Groundhog Day (Feb. 2nd), Superbowl Sunday (Feb. 7th), Mardi Gras (Feb. 9th), Valentine's Day (Feb. 14th), Presidents' Day (Feb. 15th), and Digital Learning Day (Feb. 17th).
If your district or school is doing anything special to celebrate Digital Learning Day on Wed. Feb. 17th, please let me know and I'll try to make plans to stop by. (Click here to invite @savvy_educator to your Digital Learning Day). If you post on social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) you can tag #Reg3DLD and #aamuTiM so we can all see the great things you are doing in your district.
Remember to share media showcasing instructional technology in action in your schools by accessing this folder February district IT happenings folder. Highlights from the information shared and submitted prior to the last Monday of this month will be featured in the March edition of "Experiencing IT" newsletter under the subtitle "CAPTURE IT Highlights".
Please feel free to contact me at any time. Let's continue to learn, grow and experience IT together!
Partnering to provide professional learning for your instructional technology endeavors.

Three for Free - Formative Assessment Tools
Go SoapBox
Do you need to get information on the spot from your students? Then GoSoapBox is the student engagement tool for you. It's perfect for BYOD schools or classes with 1:1 devices. With the barometer, students can share if they are getting the lesson or if they are confused. You can poll the class, embed multiple choice questions, students can have discussions and have a Q&A session.
Quizizz
Quizizz has become my favorite Formative Assessment tool thus far! If you like Kahoot! you will LOVE Quizizz. Just like Kahoot! you can use Quizizz with any device, but it is self-paced and the questions show on the students' devices. Popular memes will show after students answer and gives students immediate feedback.
