September 28th: Grades 1-5 Meet Your Child's Teacher Night
Schwenksville Elementary School is pleased to invite you to Meet Your Child's Teacher Night. The program is scheduled for grades 1st through 5th on Thursday, September 28, 2023 (*Kindergarten parents already met with Kindergarten teachers on August 21st. Kindergarten teachers will not be in attendance).
All 1st through 5th grade teachers will offer THREE (3) in person/onsite sessions at Schwenksville. Fifth grade teachers will offer sessions with both math and homeroom teachers. We also invite families to visit our special area teachers and service providers. For the Meet the Teacher Night Schedule, please see below.
Please note that this event is intended for parents/guardians only. The purpose of this evening is to provide parents with information about grade level curriculum and the classroom community. Special Area Spotlight
What are students exploring in Explorations class with Mr. Silver?
In Kindergarten, students created different pictures with shapes. Next class, students will start using their Chromebooks.
1st and 2nd Grade: 1st graders and 2nd graders watched videos about Internet safety and discussed how to be safe online. Information about being safe online, and videos used with all grade levels, can be found HERE on our school’s website.
3rd Graders: 3rd Graders completed a digital safety survey. We will look at the results when we begin internet safety next class. After completing the survey, the classes worked together to complete a Digital Breakout.
4th & 5th Graders: 4th graders worked in groups building a tower out of Keva Planks and 5th graders worked in groups building a marble run. The classes discussed the 4 Cs: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity, and how they relate to working as a group successfully.
Library Legacy Book Program
We would like to introduce you to a wonderful program in the library—our Library Legacy Book Program. This program allows you to donate $20.00 to our school library so we can purchase a book in honor of your child’s birthday, a special occasion, just because, or in memory of a loved one. This allows you to do something special for your child and our school at the same time. When you make a monetary donation, we will do the following:
- Put a personalized bookplate in the front of the book with your child’s name.
- Present the book to your child
- Your child will be the first to check out the brand-new book
If you are interested in participating in this program, which is optional, please fill out the form below and return the form and payment ($20.00) to the library at any time. If it’s for a birthday, please return the form at least a month before you want it presented. We love to get the forms at the beginning of the year for our planning purposes. We will start presenting books in October. If your child’s birthday or the date you choose is in June, July, August, or September, we will celebrate on their “half-year” birthday.
An average library book, including special binding, processing, and shipping, is $20.00. We ask for a monetary donation from you rather than a book donation. Prior to the month of the book presentation, we will have your child select their book from a wide choice of brand-new library books, and the book will be presented in front of the class.
Please include payment when you sign up. This simplifies the process and allows us to order books ahead of time. Please make checks payable to “Schwenksville Elementary.” If you don’t choose to sign up now, this form will remain on the website throughout the year if you change your mind. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Overholser (firstname.lastname@example.org)!
