Room B-4
What's New
We have had a great week in B-4! Here are a few highlights:
*** We learned about how to be safe when we ride a bus. Our class is looking forward to practicing our skills when we ride the bus to the apple orchard in October.
***We went to the computer lab on Thursday for the first time this year. It took awhile to relearn how to log on to the computer but we did it and were able to listen to some stories on Tumblebooks.
***Mrs. Paton came to our class and taught a lesson on Listening.
Reading
Next week in reading we will be reviewing and learning about the short o sound in words. We have had great success at Reading to Self and Reading to Someone during our Daily 5 time. We will learn about the Writing portion of Daily 5 this week. Your child needs to practice reading every day in order to become a better reader. Try to build in a little time for your child to read to you each day!
Math
We will be finishing Unit 1 in math this week. Our first math test will be on Friday. I use a Math Workshop model during our math time. This involves teaching a whole group lesson and then the students move through different activities that help them learn the skills being taught. I meet with each group daily and I am able to differentiate my lessons depending on the skills and levels of the groups. The kids learn how to work together in partners and small groups as well as practice and master math skills.
