The Final Countdown to Summer Break

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this final newsletter of the year finds everyone ready for the last hustle and bustle week before school dismisses for the summer. It is really difficult to believe how this school year seemed to fly by us. It is great to hear the sounds and sights of spring with the birds tweeting, flowers blooming, and warmer temperatures! Our elementary has been buzzing with exciting events and we hope that you have had an opportunity to be involved.

Effort and perseverance describe our 3-6 grade students during their MAP testing week. The teachers and staff were very proud of these kiddos! I am proud of the diligence and hard work our students and teachers showed as we continue to work together to provide our students the BEST possible education.

A new celebration for this spring is our ART SHOW. It is on Tuesday, May 10 in an open house format from 5:00-7:00 pm in our school library. The art work that your students have created this year is stunning and we hope that the whole community can come in and take a look!

Many of our students are participating in summer school this year. Be on the look out for a detailed packet about everything you need to know including dates, times, daily schedules and field trip information.

I am sending out a huge shout out and THANK YOU to the members of the Orrick Elementary PTO for all their work this year to make this year AWESOME for both the staff and students. We just want you to know how much we appreciate you each and every day!

We look forward to ending our school year strong and with a bang! To our sixth grade families who are moving on up to the junior high, thank you for your contributions for making our school such an awesome place. See you all at awards on the last day of school.

Orrick Art Show

The Orrick Elementary students would like to invite you to our Spring Art Show Open House on Tuesday, May 10th from 5-7 pm. Students have been working hard all year in art and have been saving all of their artwork for display in the show. Please save the date and plan on attending an evening filled with art! Email Nicole Kizilarmut if you have questions: nkizilarmut@orrick.k12.mo.us

Summer Reading Program at the Ray County Library

On Thursday, May 12th, the students will have a short presentation from one of the librarians at the Ray County Library promoting their summer reading program. It looks to be a great program this year with wonderful incentives for our children. I strongly encourage you to set personal goals with your children for summer reading. Our kiddos have made huge gains this year in their reading fluency and comprehension and taking time out to READ will be what they need to continue their growth and reduce the chance for that summer slide and regression.

End of Year Reminders

All lunch balances, library book fines, preschool tuition, and iPad repairs need to be paid in full on last day of school. Thank you for your assistance.

iPad Year End Collection

It is that time of the year that we have to begin our inventory of the student issued iPads. We are asking for the charging blocks and cords to be returned with the iPads on Wednesday, May 11th. Please remember that if there are cracks or repairs needed on the iPads that a report filled out by the parents are required. The online or printable forms may be found at: http://aodel5.wix.com/edtechinfo#!about/c1enr
