Message from the Superintendent
Dear EUSD Families and Staff,
I continue to be inspired by the efforts of our EUSD community during this challenging time. As we near the end of the semester, it is a great time to revisit our areas of focus and share progress. A true core value of Encinitas schools has been the focus on the whole child. This week, this was especially apparent in presentations at our monthly EUSD Board Meeting.
Our Equity Committee was featured and our presenters shared where we have been as a district, what we are currently doing, and where we hope to go. We are committed to creating and fostering an inclusive environment where all children feel respected and valued and where their unique needs are met. In addition, our district’s TRAC (Teambuilding, Awareness, Regulation, and Community) Program was highlighted sharing the core competencies all students are learning this year. There is an important connection between social and emotional learning and equity as students learn to be socially aware and empathetic humans that are able to appreciate multiple perspectives. The best news on the horizon is the vaccination for COVID-19. Our employees will all have the opportunity as essential workers to receive the vaccine in the next phase, Phase 1B. The latest information we have is that it could be in February. Our health technicians and district nurses have been provided the opportunity to be vaccinated along with other health care workers in Phase 1A. More district COVID-19 updates can be found in the district presentation slides. Click here to review.
Please help us keep our schools safe and open by wearing masks, practicing physical distancing at all times, and following all state and county health orders. Thank you for your continued support at home and in our community.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
