A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
Come, Lord Jesus!
The season of Advent is now upon us, where we wait in great joy to celebrate the season of Jesus' birth. We had reconciliation services available for our students last week to help prepare their hearts for this special season. We will have continued prayer services throughout the season of Advent to help strengthen the message of this 'waiting' season.
Tomorrow, we have the special honor to have the Most Rev. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller celebrate mass with us at 8:00am. We will have a light reception immediately following the mass in the cafeteria. All families are invited to attend. We are humbled to have the Archbishop join us as we begin the season of Advent at SACHS. The Archbishop has been very supportive in prayer, encouragement and hope for us this year.
There has been lots of excitement and joy around our wonderful school. Our students are getting into colleges and more scholarships are coming in. 33 seniors got accepted to UIW last week with over $157,000 in scholarships. We also have some winning teams from our new Bowling team that played in their first tournament this weekend against Holy Cross and WON and our #1 Diver, Elizabeth Goei took 1st place in a big meet last weekend. Basketball and soccer are now in season and everyone is playing with their competitive spirits God gave them.
Our very own senior, Kyle Davila volunteered his time as Spiderman earlier last month to surprise one of the only child survivors from the Sutherland Springs tragedy (see picture below). We have now partnered with Teacups & Tiaras to collect gift cards for the two surviving children in Sutherland Springs, Ryland (age 5) and Zoe (age 6). We are in need of HEB, Walmart, Shell, Target or VISA/Mastercard gift cards during this Christmas season to help support those taking care of them. We will deliver them before Christmas. You can drop off the gift cards in the front office. We will have a special gift box for them.
We are pleased to announce that St. Anthony Catholic High School is participating in the 2018 Catholic Schools Sweepstakes sponsored by Catholic Life Insurance. This tried and true program has helped Catholic schools raise more than $7 million. Please help support SACHS with the purchase of tickets and opportunities to win great prizes. See flyer below for more details.
We have two wonderful new staff members joining the Yellow Jacket family. Philip Zavala is our Director of Enrollment and has brought in over 25 shadow students since his arrival in the last few weeks. Erika Salazar is our Vice Principal of Academic Affairs and has visited every classroom since her arrival last week. We are excited to have new energy and passion added to our SACHS family.
Dear Wonderful Creator- Thank you for your love and blessings You have given us. We praise You for the gift You have provided us through Your son Jesus Christ. We pray and hope to be still and hear You more during this Advent season. We ask for your blessing upon every student, family and staff member during this time as we prepare to celebrate the greatest miracle. Take our hearts and make them Yours. In Jesus Name, Amen.
"May this season remind you of the hope, joy, love and peace found in Christ." Romans 15:13
May your life be blessed!
Dr. Kristina Vidaurri
