Principal's Message

A highlight for me this month has been watching our Grade 1 classes host their class exhibitions. This has been fantastic to watch in action. The Grade 1 students were so proud of the work they had done and craving to show off their Winter Olympics Inquiry Unit to the rest of the students in our school.

Students watching were very engaged to see what a Grade 1 inquiry unit looks like. From the perspective of the teachers presenting, it was a great opportunity to show their colleagues the work that they are exploring in Grade 1. From the perspective of the teachers watching the exhibition, they were able to glean some ideas that they can take back to their class when leading their next inquiry unit.

The exhibitions also provided an opportunity for parents to see the learning that took place in their child's classroom. Students captured videos and showed their exhibition creations which brought parents closer to understanding the learning journey that their child experienced.

I look forward to watching the remaining grades share their exhibitions!

Class Exhibitions

We have recently changed how classes host assemblies. As a staff, we felt it was time to make a change to our assemblies that would celebrate student learning, represent the work students are working on in class, and provide opportunity for teachers to share with their colleagues how they are guiding students through the inquiry process. In addition, how did the students focus their learning around our Bucket Full of Skills (6C's)? We have decided to call these assemblies Class Exhibitions. Below you will see a couple images of 1E, 1M, and 1J presenting their exhibition.

Elmdale Parent Council (PAC)

The Elmdale Parent Council would like to thank all our Elmdale families for all their hard work during our last fundraiser.

Family Parking

Located in our main parking lot on the North side of our school, we have our Family Parking lot. This is where all families park to pick up and drop off children. Parents must walk their child from their vehicle to the school playground. Please be aware that at these pick up and drop off times, we have school buses that enter and exit the school parking lot.
